I don't normally give a vote and then provide a response, however, "Diane B" was a very good response!

Just to give you insight to the life of an officer...she does a very good job!

Police officers are no different than anybody else. You have good and bad in EVERY walk of life and as such you have good and bad officers. But just the same you have good and bad CEO's, managers, bosses, and supervisors who've let the power go to their heads!

As an officer for over 30 years, my accomplishments are simply this...I've help countless people in trouble, in need of help, or just stranded on a highway with a flat tire. I enjoy helping others who are scared in the middle of the night or those who can't fend for themselves from the attacks of thugs and petty life-forms that waste our precious airspace because of their lack of respect for others!

Lastly, I know as an officer doing my job with all its inherent dangers, I've made my community a safer place for those I call "neighbors."

Thanks for asking and best wishes.

I respect their power. I am ashamed of any police I find to be corrupt though. If someone was standing outside of my home with a shotgun, I would assume the police would show up and help save me. I would hope so at least. But I have been the one in handcuffs before that has felt wronged. Many mixed emotions on this subject.

I try to respect everyone, police officer or not. People tend to show you respect if you treat them with respect as well...

I have nothing but respect for police officers. They work really hard and put their lives on the line in order to protect other people. They are the people who help maintain order in our society. If they didn't exist, then people would go around committing crimes and breaking rules. They make the world a safer place.

I RESPECT EVERYBODY until they give me a reason not to anymore. Just because I write you a ticket or take you to jail, and give you a tongue lashing in the process doesn't constitute an abuse of power. It upsets me when folks start saying that we as officers abuse our power because of what they've seen on TV or read in the papers...THATS COWARDICE....feel free to talk with me or come out on a ride-along with me for a couple of months....then if you want to judge ME by my actions, feel free....just don't stereotype everyone else by what I may have done......we are authority figures in law enforcement and its natural for the criminals and immature folks to dislike authority.....for the most part, I receive the same respect that I give out, and if I don't? No big deal, I don't demand respect, I just smile and whisper to myself that its only a matter of time before YOU'RE dialing 911......

i respect them very much.. they risk their lives so you can sleep at night. they help whenever and where ever no questions asked. those who DON'T respect them or hate them is because they have done something wrong and got caught. they cant take responsibility for their own actions so they blame the police.

I do respect police officers

Why?

Because they arrive at homes where domestic violence has occurred not knowing what they are going to walk into.

They face people with weapons who are dangerous

They have to take care of people mutilated in car accidents

They have to investigate rapes, homicides, beatings.

They walk out of their homes to go to work not know if they are going to return after their shift to their love ones.

They have a love of mankind to be helpful or they wouldn't be doing the job

Yes, they give tickets to speeders because they are just that speeders.

Yes, they arrest drug users, pushers and sellers because they are hurting other people.

But I ask you where would we be without them. And I for one am thankful that there are men and women out there who are police officers and who do their job well. Thanks to them we live in a relatively safe society.

i do and i dont. I do because i have a number of friends trying to get into law enforcement and i believe it is a very stressful yet important part of our society. However, I don't because i feel like a lot of cops let the power go to their heads and they abuse their privileges.
