Food poisoning -Campylobacter enteritis is an infection in the small intestine caused by Campylobacter jejuni, a type of bacteria. Symptoms generally last one week.
Cases (Traveler's diarrhea - E. coli; Food poisoning - E. coli; E. coli diarrhea; Hamburger disease) usually clear up on their own in 1 - 3 days, and no treatment is required.
Antidiarrheal medication may delay the organism from leaving the digestive tract, and therefore may not be recommended.
Please see the web pages for more details on Food poisoning.

You have many answers but one thing to keep in mind if you suspect that it is food poisoning DO NOT take anything for diarrhea control, you must eliminate these toxins from your body. There have been stories where people take Imodium and stuff and actually have to have organ transplant because the toxins destroyed their liver and kidneys. You should probably seek medical advice and if you are dehydrating than definitely go to the doctor there is a point where you may need to take something to control the diarrhea to stop dehydration.
I know, I had food poisoning, very severely. Double over stomach cramping and you wish that there were two toilets one underneath and one in front to puke in. Mine lasted one week in bed. Three days in the bathroom and two weeks before I recovered completely. Good luck.

There are hundreds if not thousands of types of food poisoning. The most common types will start in 24 hrs and last a day or so. It will have flu like symptoms.

Symptoms are much the same as for stomach viruses such as Noro Virus (winter vomiting virus). Viruses last for 12-72 hours (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, aching bones, stomach pains).
Food poisoning such as Salmonella or Campylobacter tend to be more severe and longer lasting.
Most bouts of sickness are from viruses, not bacterial food poisoning.

It depends on the severity, you will certainly vomit and have an upset stomach, you may find yourself sat on the loo with your head in the basin or a bucket. You may experience stomach cramps, fever and dehydration. If it's doesn't go away in a couple of days go to your doctor, it may not be food poisoning but a virus.

Nausea, vomiting, and possibly diarrhea. Will hit within an hour of whatever you ate and can last from 24-72 hours. Chomp on crushed ice chips and stay close to the bathroom. Good luck!

For us (my ex and I) -- it was from pork (about 27 years ago -- it was so bad I remember it vividly and still have problems with pork) --- it lasted mored than 24 hours -- came out BOTH ends at the same time and you can barely move --- you want to die.......we BOTH woke up at the exact same time in the middle of the night and hit 2 separate bathrooms.

It depends on the type of food poisoning and how much was ingested. Who are you trying to poison?
