The Bible says that the whole creation groans in labor pains.Romans 8:22 There are other references that it throws up and spits out -mostly triggered by the level of violence and immorality so much that the animals and land were corrupted.
This can be taken two ways. These can be human traits applied to the inanimate to make a point or there can be a spiritual nature to the creation.

well, if all living things are part of the Earth Mother then yes ... the Earth Mother has feelings. i'm feel i'm a part of The Earth and my feelings are being hurt by the destruction of my Eco systems and the extinction of my fellow Earthlings. in fact, my heart is breaking.

Not only feels, but thinks, acts, intends. I bet she's really thrilled and impressed with the way she's being viciously raped right now. And yet, she still gives her life for all of her children rather than use her awesome power to punish the little bastards for the despicable way in which they spit on her very being and essence.
And i would strongly argue against the spreading notions that the natural disasters we currently experience are her punishing us. We and our idiotic pursuits are the ones causing the cancer that is killing our mother and us with her. She isn't angry with us. Just very, very sad.

even though it is not alive. Yes, I would imagen sad terrible and sickened is how she would feel.
people walking on her all the time, population, and mood swings to match(weather). Earth supports life and look around at what it is doing to her. Hurricans, tornados and wars saddly abused and used she feels.
How would people feel if they did her job 24/7.

No, I don't anthropomorphize the earth, but I feel that we should have a lot more respect for it and tread more lightly on it.

Our earth mother is reflecting her anger with us as I write this...Global Warming, running out of water and other fundamental elements to life. We must now and forever change our ways or she'll punish us. PEACE!
