I think that you should go to the DMV and get a new one, but mine says under 21 until April 24, 2008. You would think that your birthdate would be on the ID though and people can sell you stuff if you were born on or before this date in the year 1986.

You should be allowed to buy alcohol because they should check the DATE not the "under 21 years old". I have several friends who still have the same license as you but they have no problem using it.
If your license is expired you should go to the DMV. If not, save your money unless your state doesn't allow you to buy without the updated license. Every state is different so first find out about how the licenses work.

Do you live in PA? I know ours are like that. But you shouldn't need a new ID until it actually expires. Why don't you ask the stupid store clerk to look at your birthdate, which should also be printed on the ID, and do the math? The "Under 21 Years" thing is like a warning but they should be able to see how old you really are. That's BS in my opinion, I would be mad if I were you.

Even though they are valid IDs, many places won't take UNDER 21 IDs. Why? Not quite sure. I'm guessing they are scared for some reason that they are fakes. And you will have to go to the DMV. You don't think they'd give you something for free did you?

Unless your state laws are different than mine, it doesn't matter that it says UNDER 21... it's past your birth date and the ID proves that... and in my state that is enough. If, however, your state isn't like mine.. then just run by the dmv and pick up a new license.. if the line isn't long it will take 5 minutes and cost at most 5-10 bucks.

It depends on your state and its DMV's policies. Your 'under 21' license should probably have expired on your twenty-first birthday. Contact the DMV to find out how to get a new license printed.

I myself work in retail and personally if I'm busy I look at the provisional age color coded bars, Most clerks are trained to go buy the D.O.B. date of birth..To make life easier for you just go to the DMV and renew your ID. No they don't automatically issue a new ID.

Give the DMV positive proof of you age, such as an official birth certificate which you can obtain from the department of vital statistics or records at the city hall office in the city where you were born if you were born in the USA. They will issue you a new driver's license with your correct birth date on it and you will not have any more such problems.

It should say "Under 21 till 2007", if they dispute your ID just have them look at your B-Day. You are old enough to buy it, they cannot turn you down because of your ID, it says you are legal.
