This morning before I left for work my cat was all of a sudden limping and holding his foot up. I felt the paw and leg but I am not a vet so I don't know if it is broken or just sprained. He isn't crying out when he puts weight on it.

you should probably take him to the vet, he may have gotten it caught in something overnight. i would say take it to the vet right away!

A broken bone is very painful and the cat would definitely cry out if you touched it. If he is putting any weight on his leg it is most likely a sprain or an injury from something else.

Just watch for swelling and if the leg feels hot from inflammation. Ligament sprains and pulls can take a while to heal and there is not much that can be done to speed that up. A steroid shot could reduce some swelling or inflammation and relieve pain for a while.

He could have fallen and landed wrong, or gotten it caught in something and tried jumping rather than pulling the leg straight out. I'm hoping you'll take him in by the vet to have them determine if he needs to have it x-rayed. A cracked bone can break, a broken bone can splinter further or start shearing into blood vessels around it.

Aw poor kitty! Keep him inside and keep an eye on him. If he continues limping than you should take him to the vet. Good Luck!

It's possible he maybe sprained it.
Keep an eye on it and if he seems to be favoring it more each day, then take him to the vet.
