how do i find crew list from ships in 1939-1945?

My grandfather served in the navy from october 1939 til November 1945, i am just wanting information about him. There are too many to list but I will name a few, Royal Arthur, Drake, Gloucester 2, Newcastle(Hopdall). I would be grateful for any help given.

The public records office has all the info you need.
I went there 10 years ago it is at Kew in south london.
I just Googled it . It is still there.
There are loads of links if you just Google it.

Your local veterans clubs and offices will be more than happy to help you, though such manifests may be classified, if only for privacy reasons.
