When making your bed, is it more important to have the comforter's print facing up rather than going by where the tag is located on the comforter? For example, I have a comforter with a repeat pattern of urns with flowers in them. Should the pattern be facing the head of the bed as if you are looking at them like a picture, or should I go by the tag or the dimensions of the comforter in relation to the California King size mattress? Is it possible or common that if manufactured by machine, the print could be facing the wrong direction or does the print display the proper direction which the comforter is supposed to face?

My boyfriend and I have been arguing over this one. I'm an Interior Design student and remember dicussing this one in a class one time. The comforter seems to be the proper proportion to the bed when the flowers are facing up like they are supposed to but he doesn't seem to see it.

I think it would look best if when you're standing at the foot of the bed you are looking at the picture. So the bottom of the urns face the foot of the bed. Don't worry about the tag, cut it off, it's YOUR comforter!

Standing at the foot of the bed the pattern should be running to the head of the bed. It's like looking at a picture of the wall, pretend to hang the comforter and lay it on the bed that way.

Don't go buy the tag - go by looks.
If it bothers your boyfriend, cut off the tag at the seam, and
staple it to the middle of the bottom [ foot ] of spread, so you can make the bed easily.

Put it whichever way appeals to you the most. It's your bed, you're the one who will be seeing it.
