The legend is a white 2door coupe with approx. 150K miles and the prelude is a dark blue with a lot of options (no leather) but had the engine rebuilt and currently has 100K miles. Mileage estimates are about the same.

It depends on the type of driving you do. If it is mostly highway with very little start/ stop in town driving then the 5 speed is fine. However if the majority of your driving is town, short run, start/stop type driving then take the auto. The 5 speed around town gets old real quick. I grew up on standards and still love to drive them, just not around town on a daily basis.

I had a 90 prelude Si with the 5sp, and I really liked the car with one notable exception: It is geared very low. At highway speeds of 70+ mph, it was revving well into the 3500 rpm range as was noisy as hell. A 5sp will also be tiresome in general around town, but they are much more fun to drive.

The Acura will be a better car for longer trips as it is quieter, rides better and is generally more luxurious.

Both cars should run almost forever as long as you keep up maintenance. The tuners still like Preludes, so you will have no problem selling it, and probably will not lose any real money on it. Insurance is not really a factor as you probably will not bother with coverage on the vehicle itself (Comprehensive coverage would be a good idea to cover theft).

I would go with the Prelude, a 5 speed would be more fun to drive. As far as miles and as long as the Prelude was rebuilt correctly, miles don't mean a too much to a Honda, I have seen those run 250k miles if they were treated well.
