Granted if you are paying you are entitled to it but why do some people have to be rude before they even give someone a chance to correct the situation. I was at rite aid picking up a prescription. The lady in front of me had done some shopping in the store and she bought all her stuff back to the pharamacy to pay for everything in one order. The pharmacy tech scanned one of the items and when she sat it down it scanned a second time. This customer started screaming at this poor girl about her trying to cheat her out of her money, when the tech almost immediatly called for a void. Then the manager came to do the void and the lady starts demanding compensation for almost being cheated out of her money. She was being really nasty and the manager told her that she wasnt even supposed to be checked out at the pharamacy with so much stuff. So she called the manager a few names and the manager asked her to leave the store. Couldnt all of this had been avoided had she kept her cool?

Some people are just rude, some are trying to scam the store out of some extra money, and some are just plain overwhelmed with life in general and have forgotten their manners.

I think you'll like this story, though - Last Christmas I was shopping for a last minute gift and went to a nice store at the mall. It was super crowded but everyone was in a generally nice mood. All except this one older woman who took issue with a young man working behind the counter because, as he was helping the cashiers, he was snapping the shopping bags open. Snap, bag, snap, bag.
The annoyed woman complained to the cashier about this "noisy rude man" and asked to see the manager. Turns out the "bag snapper" was the manager! Upon finding this out she turned to the rest of the customers (me included) and loudly tried to drum up support for her anti-snapping campaign - but we all just stood there and giggled at her nutty antics. The giggling turned to all out hilarity after she stormed out - and I'm sure she could still hear us laughing as she stomped out of the mall!

I've seen checkout girls in tears from someones rude behavior. Most of the time, the verbal assault on them has nothing to do with the victim in the first place. Unfortunately, the people who do this type of behavior probably won't be reading this thread. If any of them do happen to read it, shame on you! Try being nice for a change. The world would be a better place.

yes it could have been avoided. This lady sounds like either she had a bad day to begin with or she just has a plain old nasty attitude(I hope not). some people are rude like that. I try to show those people a little etra love. sometimes when I talk to them most of them have something on their mind.

Being rude is a way of life for some people unfortunately. As long as the clerk caught the error right away, she really had nothing to complain about.

Some people are just not pleasant. They are looking for a fight. If this were a guy, I guarantee you it would either have been a huge blustering guy, or a very small one with little man complex.

It's my opinion that some people are just born miserable, and have to bring others down to their own pathetic level.

Alot of people who yell and scream in public just like attention. I worked in customer service for seven years and I'll never do it again.

Some people are born complainers and NOTHING satisfies them. In that business you need a thick skin and extreme PATIENCE. Usually you brush off their hostility and complete the transaction and send them on their way. They'll be back.

American's are too "self centered" anymore, and Sam Walton (Wal-Mart's founder), though his intentions were sincere, killed those of us n customer service with "the customer is always right" attitude.

He wasn't expecting the advantageous crowd that America seems to have become today. It is VERY saddening.

Some people are just rude. Always. The world owes them something. Best thing to do is ignore them as much as you can, and kill them with politeness. It drives them crazy.

Of course it could be avoided if she had kept her cool, however, it sounds like this woman has serious anger issues. Most people would not have over-reacted as she did.
