Actually, most Christians are very open minded.
We WANT you to be able to pursue your own beliefs and dreams.
It's your people who are closed minded......fighting like babies to keep out other ideas from schools besides an unproven evolution THEORY........I suppose many of you are afraid the Creation idea might take over?
Elimination of prayer, Hiding documents like the Ten Commandments
Shall I go on?
We have no problem with you posting stuff we are against, yet you are scared to death of us.
That speaks volumes to me............

I'm not at all closed minded. IN fact, I am the complete opposite. I purposely majored in Philosophy and Theology in college so I could learn about all faiths. I have had many arguments and debates with closed minded religious people. For the most part, the people you are talking about are strict, conservative religious groups that only follow the bible and what is said in the bible. If you were to ask deeper questions about their religion itself or why they believe this, they either will not answer you or start quoting the bible. This is fun if you know what you're talking about. This is when i start quoting bible versus that go against the quotes the other person is saying. I use their own logic and their own words against them to make them realize that you cannot win a religious argument based on the bible alone.
The reason these people are so judgemental and closed minded is mainly because they don't know their own religion well enough that when they are questioned, they feel like they have to go on the defensive like a cornered animal. It's more the individual person than it is the actual religion. There are two subjects to stay away from in normal conversation: religion and polictics. It's the same way with closed minded people and their favorite politician. Most people have strong views about religion, views they are not willing or open to being criticized. But without criticism and open communication, there cannot be change. No one likes being criticized or having their beliefs questioned. Because of this, I think that is why certain people react that way, because they feel like they are being targeted or that their belief system is being questioned. Hope that helped.

Although not all "religious people" are closed minded, I believe that many of the people who do fit into that category have been taught since birth that their road was the only right one. However, I have to agree with many of the people on here in saying that not all religious people are closed minded. I am a proud pagan, and though I have caught quite a bit of abuse for it (both physical and emotional), I am proud to say that one of my best friends is a Mormon. Part of the reason that we are such good friends is because of the fact that we enjoy learning about each others religions.

Yes, there are some people that are judgemental. This is wrong. But, in all fairness the Word tells us to spread the word. If we see someone sinning and don't try to tell them about Jesus and they die, then their sin is on our hands. If we do tell them about Jesus and they just don't respond then we have done our part and their sin is on them alone. Some people may push too hard ,trying to get someone out of satans' hands. But, we aren't perfect and if you go to a ball game, bar, or anywhere else, you will find the push for their beliefs. The best team, the best song, or whatever. So show a little compassion. AT LEAST, the Christian is trying to get you into Gods' family. The others are just for arguments sake. Think about it. Makes sense, doesn't it????????

I don't consider myself judgemental, but maybe somewhat close-minded...
I do try to live my life and live my beliefs without pushing it onto others...though at any time anyone wanted to know about my beliefs I would share them. I would never try to force my beliefs on anyone, what they choose is their right.
I have my beliefs, I know they are right and cannot be swayed. Maybe that's where the close-minded part comes in...but I would never put others down for not believing the same as me.

you talk about closed minded religious people, when you your self are just as bad. If you truly were opened minded then you would know that not all religious people think everyone should feel as they do. When one is opened minded they know that not everyone is the same, and for you to say that ALL religious people are closed minded means that you truly are closed minded.

Would this be a bad time to point out that you're being judgmental? Not to mention that you're committing a hasty generalization by assuming that all "religious people" are "closed minded and judgemental".

The major reason I stopped being a christian, was all the hypocrisy and closed minded judgmental people who where Christians trying to tell me how to run my life and if I didn't do or act like them I was going to hell.

You have just judged that every one of every religion all around the world is closed minded? Buddhist, and Pagan, Muslim, Jew, and Christian. All the denominations, all groups and all levels of Orthodoxy? How could all believers care what you live for a life style?

I'm not sure what you mean by close minded. If you mean, do I believe there are many ways to God, no I don't. Jesus said He was the only way to the Father, and I believe that. If that renders me "close-minded" in another's opinion, so be it.
What others choose to believe is up to them.
