No, resolution is just one component in picture quality. You need a good contrast ratio, deep black levels, decent brightness, and much more. Don't decide just by resolution or you may be disappointed.

Nope the resolution depends on the pixel matrix + Contrast Ration like HD Resolution with the contrast ration of 10000:1 will effect more instead of HD Resolution with contrast ratio of 1000:1 Today Plasma usually ships with the contrast ratio of 10000:1 and more.
