My doctor prescribed Lorazepam for my ppd. But I don't think its working that good and I don't want to become addicted to it. I don't know any woman who has taking it for ppd. What should I do?

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Lorazepam for depression? You're kidding?!?! Here is my experience with that drug. It was perscribed to me to increase breast milk production. I started feeling REALLY MENTALLY HORRIBLE on that drug. For example, I was really really anxious, and fatigued (dry mouth, serious depression) but yet not able to sleep (insomnia). I felt totally out of control of my life for about two weeks, until i finally looked up the facts about the drug. It works by BLOCKING DOPAMINE in your brain, and is mainly perscribed to combat nausea in cancer patients. Dopamine is responsible for producing your "feely-good" endorphins. Using Lorazepam for depression is an off-label use (not what it's intended for). I would stop taking it immediately. It took 3-4 horrible days to get rid of that awful depression I had. The best medicine for me was to get someone to watch my baby for a few hours and get out for a walk in the fresh air each day. [[[[[[[[hugs]]]]]]]] Get better soon!

Lorazepam is an anti-anxyolitic. Talk to your doctor about how it's affecting you. He/she may not be very experienced with PPD, so you may need to consult a psychiatrist, who would have more experience with PPD and the different anti-anxiety medications.

Good luck to you and your new baby.
