What war/battle was it that Israel lost to Egypt? The Egyptians mobilized troops periodically along the Egypt-Israel border. And finally struck when it was clear that the Israelis had become apathetic to the troops.
I think prior to that Israel had been winning the war.

The 73 war, depending on who you talk to depends on who won. The Egyptions built up SAM batteries to keep the Israeli Air Force out of the way. Egypt's only goal was to retake the Suez Canal. Egypt knew they would need the element of surprise, so they would mobilize and then demobilize troops, like you said and train each unit up in secret. When Egypt attacked they did this very quickly breaking through the Israeli sand berms using fire hoses. The IDF sent air support to help there troops manning defensive positions along the canal but they were swatted from the sky. Under SAM cover the Egyptions managed to accomplish there key military objective hence why Egypt can claim victory.

Now the second part of the 73 war is this. Syrian units were crushed by the Israeli tank brigades in some of the most heroic stands ever in warfare. With the IDF launching counterattacks and throwing the Syrians back everywhere infliciting massive damage on the Syrian forces, Syria begged Egypt for help. As a result Egyptions ground units moved beyond their SAM coverage and were routed by Israeli troops in the open desert and thrown back. Due to there heroic second efforts which saved Israel, Israel claims victory in the 73 war.

May be you are referring to 1973 war but no one can claim victory in that war it ended by UN resolution but if it was continued i think Israel would win according to the situation at the end of the war

1973. It wasn't Israel apathy. The attack was launched on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Sort of the midddle east version of the Japanese attacking us on the Sabbath.
