I just hooked up my scanner to my new pc (Brother 7820N). On my old PC I had a copy of Adobe Acrobat Standard which I used to make PDFs from scanned docs. I don't feel like buying another copy of AAS. Is there any free (or cheaper) software that will make PDFs from my scanner?

I'm specifically interested in creating PDFs directly from my Scanner.

I highly recommend PDFill, CNET gives it 5 stars and it will allow you to Insert, Fill, Edit, Delete and Submit PDF Form Fields; PDF Draw, Comment, Annotation; Open, View, Edit and Save PDF files without Adobe Acrobat!

Pdf995, PrimoPDF or CutePDF are free alternatives to Adobe Acrobat which will allow you to save your document to PDF format.

If you don't want to download software you can convert your document online for free at pdfonline.com

Your're in luck! The scanner you have can save to PDF with no additional software!

Scan:
Scanning Capability: B/W & Color Scanning
Max. Interpolated Scan Resolution (dpi): Up to 9600 dpi
Formats (Export): TIFF/BMP/MAX/JPG/PDF
"Scan To" feature: Email, Image, OCR, File

If you have installed whatever software that came with your scanner, you may have this feature available to you, or if you don't have the cd's that came with it, you may be able to download it with the drivers from the Brother website.
