I love apple crisp and I prefer to use Granny Smith apples. I slice the apples and put them in a little lemon juice...so they don't turn brown. I then make a mixture for the topping...
1 Cup of Sugar
1/2 Cup of Butter
3/4 Cup Flour
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
Mix above ingredients altogether. Place apple slices in a buttered baking dish and then crumble the topping over top. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and apples are tender about 25-30 minutes! Enjoy....I make this all the time and it is wonderful!

I always use Jonathan apples.

APPLE CRISP

6 medium apples
3-4 tbsp. sugar
cinnamon

Topping:

1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. oatmeal

Peel, core and quarter apples. Place apples in a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Mix all topping ingredients together until crumbly. If mixture is too dry , add more butter. Sprinkle over apples, until all apples are covered. Make more topping if needed.

Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

To make any apple crisp extra special, use any traditional apple crisp recipe and after the apple part is in the pan, before you put on the topping, pour a container of caramel apple dip over the apples, then put on the crumb topping, and bake as usual. Out of this world!
