If you believe in killing people, you lack some of your spirituality. War is just not a viable method or solution to any disagreement.

Good question... It's sort of like the death penalty. People of "faith" that would burn down some abortion clinic in a righteous rage, may very well support the death penalty. I have always wondered about that. Like the timing of killing makes a difference....no?
Killing is always wrong. Jesus let himself be killed when he could have very well defended himself. Alas, I am not so perfect. Can I be "not so perfect" and still be a Christian? I say yes. Being a human Christian is to be not perfect.
War is bad, it's wrong, and it's a blight humanity. With that said... Could I NOT defend myself against aggression real, imagined, reasonable or not? Maybe not...wars happen because we are not perfect. Some day we will mature as a people. Until then..we can only hurt inside knowing what we are really like.

First, so you know my background and where I'm coming from, I'm a former Marine seargent. I'm also what you would probably call a fundy. Yes, I support this war. Get away from the 6:00 news and look up some Iraqi blogs. They thank our troops every single day for delivering them from tyranny. Their children run to us, not from us.
Let me also say that 'yes', I would support a war in the name of freedom. That would, of course, include our own Revolutionary War. Let me define what 'is' is here. I'm not calling freedom, democracy. I'm calling freedom the right of each man and woman to determine their own destiny. We have the right to pursue our own goals and not submit involuntarily to another. I'm not about to create an American empire. I will howver again fight for the weak and the oppressed.
I'm now going to take this conversation a step further. I truely believe that God supports some wars and conflicts. Did you know that when David was being persued and in fear of his life that he ran to the temple for a weapon? He went in to a House of God for a sword.
That was just one instance in the Old Testament. There are many others. In fact, there are enough mentions of the Isrealites in battle that I was even taken aback when I first read of them. Then I read them again and began to understand God's purpose.
War is mentioned in the New Testament as well. Look at Revelations and read about the tribulation and about Armageddon. Jesus, himself, will lead that final battle.
Oh, I also think that there is a common thread throughout my answer. I believe that there is good and there is evil in this world. I believe that it is His intent to one day remove evil. He will do that forcibly.

Well there is a difference between murder and the soldiers that sometimes must justly (and I emphasize it being a just cause) kill in defense of something. The killing of the innocent and torture should be avoided.
I totally oppose war, it is a terrible evil and it should be avoided at all costs.
From the Catechism:
2317 Injustice, excessive economic or social inequalities, envy, distrust, and pride raging among men and nations constantly threaten peace and cause wars. Everything done to overcome these disorders contributes to building up peace and avoiding war:
Insofar as men are sinners, the threat of war hangs over them and will so continue until Christ comes again; but insofar as they can vanquish sin by coming together in charity, violence itself will be vanquished and these words will be fulfilled: "they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

War is absolutely wrong and especially so when it is based upon lies and ego and greed as was the invasion of Iraq. This war has saved no person`s life. It has killed, maimed and destroyed many thousands.
The FBI, CIA, DEA, MI5 have all stated, at the beginning that there was no evidence of al Queda terrorists in Iraq.
The BIG claim, of course, was the ``fib`` that Iraq was in possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction. They showed us a satellite photo of a couple of army trucks and were told to believe that Saddam was carting all about Iraq tons and tons of WMD and evading the investigators who went out quickly each day to investigate an area secret to Saddam. What kind of fools would believe this stuff.
Anyway, the powers that be that lied to us all and claim to be Christian, certainly are not.

If you mean the war in Iraq, yes, I do support it, and no, I don't see any dichotomy between supporting that war and obeying the commandment, 'Thou shalt not kill.' Why?
Firstly, though I don't think it's right to kill others, I do believe that it is not unjustified to kill others in your own defense or in defense of others. In Iraq, we are dealing with people who decapitate their captives and show the event on the Internet as if it were a spectacle to be proud of. This puts them into the category of dangerous people and, I would put it to you, people who are too dangerous to society as a whole to be permitted to continue breathing.
In the Old Testament, at least, God actively exhorts war in certain instances. Whether those instances were justified, I wouldn't venture to say. I suspect they were simply historical wars whose outcomes the writers of the Biblical books attributed to God's intervention. As far as I'm concerned, wars are inventions of humans and are nothing of God.

God's way of life without Satan has no war. And that would be the best way to live. But there is Satan and with Satan comes with Christians haveing to defend themselves and what they believe in. If we gave in and didn't fight back, they would bomb us and take over our country because of our belief in God and our freedom. We have to defend ourselves and God understands that.
How do you think God is going to defeat Satan at the end? A holy WAR. It explains it in Revelations. Does God wish there didn't have to be war? Do Christians wish there was no war? OFCOURSE! But the fact of life is: WIth Evil comes war

Doctrinally, Yeshua was 100% pacifist and taught us to be pacifists. For this time being.
One reason is to show everyone that the afterlife is worth more than our suffering on earth.
For a person to be a Christian, they have to have Christlikeness as their ultimate goal. But Christlikeness is not a requirement to be a Christian.
You see, to be a buddhist, you must want to learn and follow buddhist teachings, that doesnt mean you have to KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT BUDDHISM the moment that you convert. Neither does it mean that you have to have INSTANT ABILITY to obey ALL the teachings you hear.
Understanding the human limitation makes less room for arrogance.
It is sad that most unbelievers think that anyone who says I accept Jesus' forgiveness. Automatically means they can quote the whole bible and they do everything it says.

I support the troops, not the war. I am a pacifist.
I have often thought that I would kill to protect my child, but can't really think of any other instances in which I would be prompted to kill.

The so-called "war" in Iraq is a debacle of the making of the war profiteers... but... all Christian must support any struggle, by any means, against the islamist hoards which are sworn to kill all who do not submit to the law of the koran.
It is unfortunate that so many are being deceived by the forces of evil... but, if any, who have been deceived by islam, come to impose the deception that is islam upon any one, then they must be stopped... by any means necessary... because they will kill any who do not submit to the law of the koran... that includes ALL muslims...
because there is only one koran... and it clearly states that ALL who do not submit are to be killed...
and if any one is a muslim then they are sworn to do exactly as the koran says.

Yes, He armed his disciples for a little war in which a Roman soldier who was not wearing his helmet at the moment lost his ear in the pitch dark night in the Garden of Gethsemane! Good thing that they found the ear in the night and Jesus was able to spit on it and glue it back to the side of the head of the careless Roman Soldier... The rest of the Roman Battalion was kind enough to stand by at ease watching Jesus perform this miracle!
