1 Peter 5:8-9, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."
Peter warns us to watch out for Satan when we are suffering or being persecuted. Feeling alone, weak, helpless, and cut off from other believers, so focused on our troubles that we forget to watch for danger, we are especially vulnerable to Satan's attacks. We must keep our eyes on Christ and resist the devil.

8 Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for (someone) to devour.
9 Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.
Don’t Feed the Lion. Do not feed the lion with sin, deceit, disobedience and breaking the law of God.
Do not stray away from the path of righteousness and obedience to the Word.
Proactively fight against sin and Satan.
Let Christ our Brother to fight your battles. Have faith in this victory.

Because of the wolves in sheep's clothing, the people who claim to be ministers or believers but are out for their own glory or financial gain, or those who will spin false doctrines and deceive us. Jesus said that even believers have to be careful!
Self-control is obvious--if you're not controlling your behaviour Satan probably is. You can't just say, "Oh I'm saved, Jesus will forgive me, I can do what I want now."
