Because... I created every religion as a way to take attention off of myself.
Eventually everybody realized the truth, and began worshiping me...again.
You have no idea how hard it is to be chuck.

I don't get the whole Chuck Norris thing myself. Not just internet. The church in my little town had on its readerboard a while back "Chuck Norris wants you to go to church."
The whole celebrity thing is just weird to me anyway. Like I am going to be part of a relition - or no religion - just because someone who just puts on a who for a living says so? Really when I see some celebrities claim to be in my set of beliefs I am actually embarrassed and dont really claim any connection.

It's a play on a set of Chuck Norris jokes. They are basically humorous exaggerations on Norris' fighting ability.

It started on the Conan O'Brien show and the rest is pop culture.
In 2004, Late Night with Conan O'Brien began a recurring sketch in which O'Brien would pull a Walker Texas Ranger Lever next to his desk, which would cause a brief, out-of-context clip from Walker: Texas Ranger to play. This became one of the more popular segments on O'Brien's show and led to a guest appearance by Norris himself, who pulled his own "Conan O'Brien Lever" to play a clip of Norris beating up O'Brien. This segment has been credited as jump-starting the Norris craze and leading to enough interest to produce a Walker, Texas Ranger TV movie.

Apparently some nonbelievers are bummed by him accepting christ. I dont really care. He's still the same Chuck Norris to me.
