Shouldn't a nations heroic deeds like bringing peace and justice to "Babylon" be rewarded by god rather than having catastrophic consequences such as floods, forest fires, hurricanes, lightnings, tornados and other things yet to follow?
An eye for an eye - or is this punishment just being disproportionate to some other crime?

I've got news for you - we ARE Babylon!
And this country has abandoned God for a long time now, so He is removing His protection from us. But these are just the "birth pains" just before Christ returns. The book of Revelation has warned us about this ahead of time.

There are two aspects. Firstly where is the peace and justice in Babylon at this time? Non-existant Secondly, the world wide proclaimed reason for the war was an outright lie. There were no existing weapons of mass destruction.

If there were punishment then it could well be for those reasons and you just see it through rose coloured glasses and not clearly

The second part is that Nature has been abused for far too long. It was the system of control and balance put in place by God. Such a system will obviously bite back if it is mistreated otherwise it would be ineffective.

The forest fires were provoked by members of your own Society. God does not need to punish any nation of whatever religion . They bring it on themselves, singly or jointly

The measure of a country's faith in God is not that the country is immune from disasters -- rather, it's in how the country responds when the disaster does happen. And on that score, I think America is the all-time world leader.

I'm curious as to why you addressed this question only to Christians. Pakistan is a Muslim country and has earthquakes. India is prone to natural disasters and is mostly Hindu. Japan is often hit with typhoons and quakes, and is predominantly Buddhist.

But you didn't address your question to anyone except Christians. I wonder why.

Again another Christianity 101 question. We live on a natural creation. Hurricanes, earthquakes etc are just part of a natural world, its as unavoidable as a christian jumping off a building and then asking God to save him. Is God going to nix out one of the fundamental laws of his universe to save even the greatest of christians. No, he'll just ask him what he was thinking when he jumped, when he gets to heaven.
God is not in the hurricane, he is in the people that rush to help the stranger victimized by the hurricane, he is not in the AIDS virus , he is in the heart of the person cleaning the bedpan of the dieing patient.

God doesn't owe us anything. Everything we have is only because of His grace and mercy. This world is in such turmoil because these are the last days that are spoken of in Revelations. Read your bible and you will see that God warned us thousands of years ago that this would happen. It is a result of the sin that this world has returned to in abundance. These things are to get our attention so that we can turn to God before it is too late.

Most surely!

Malachi 1:4 (NIV) Edom may say, "Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins." But this is what the LORD Almighty says: "They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the LORD.

Hosea 9:14-16 (NIV) (the prophet makes spontaneous prayer unto the LORD!!!...) Give them, O LORD— what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry. (And God rushes to answer him on the spot!!!) "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious. Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. Even if they bear children, I will slay their cherished offspring."

Isn’t God so wonderful??? He always answers our prayer if we ask him “according to his will”!

Jer 16:3-4 (NIV) For this is what the LORD says about the sons and daughters* (*babies) born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers: "They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like refuse lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth."

Job 9:17 (NIV) God would crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds for no reason.
