I guess I'm asking specifically what the results would be for an averagely/moderately active vegetarian? Any commentes?

What if it's not anorexia but unvailability of food (i.e. poverty). Would the answer be the same?

in 3 weeks there would be a marked decrease in water weight as stored nutrients (main glycogen) is metabolized for energy. there would be no measurable amount of fat lost when in starvation mode for those with average levels of body fat. mostly likely there would be a decrease of at least 10 lbs in that time frame

Yes. I did 700-800 for a month. You will lose the weight but it is hard to keep it off. The key to the whole thing is how much and how often you exercise. I was hiking a hill for an hour 4 times a week with 30 lbs. on my pack. I think the weight would still come off had I been eating 1500 calories. It may have just taken a little longer. Try to go for the healthy lifestyle over the quick fix. It does not last believe me.

Yes, this is dangerous - it's undernourishment at best, and near starvation at worst. The results could be delayed development or growth, increased stress and eventual damage to any number of internal organs, and severe emotional/mental distraction and suffering.

It doesn't matter if the low consumption is by choice or lack of resources - the physical results would be the same.

the caloric consumption that you are describing falls into the category of a "very low calorie diet". for people that are obese, a doctor can place them on this kind of diet for a matter of several months. However, for someone who just needs to shake 10 or 20 lbs, it will do more destruction than good. your body will literally begin to eat itself. not just fat, we're talking muscles and eventually organs too. although i'm definately not a physician, i wouldn't recommend doing this for more than a month at most. your metabolism will crash. but if it is something you honestly feel the need to pursue, at least consult a doctor to monitor your blood pressure and body regularities. you definitely wouldn't want to jeopardize a decrease in metabolism, or your long term health.

Wow. Maybe you should visit a support group for your eating disorder. You are a vegatarian, so you already have to work harder to get nutrients and protiens. Why only give your hard working body 500 calories to use? Your body HAS TO help your heart keep going, especially during exercise (for everyone not just vegetarians) so you really really really need at least 1400 calories. Seriously, get help.
