oh geez, sheesh, sonof a whatever
Christians are NOT ONE ENTITY. perhaps you have conflicts with christianity, perhaps you were raised in an environment that shoved some scattered "Christian" values down your throat---sorry, pal, but we all have to figure this stuff out for ourselves.
I have spoken to my grandmother, in dreams, since she died. I cannot prove this. I cannot quantify this. frankly, I don't give a shat if you believe me. I was there, it happpened, and I got good advice.
there is stuff going on that I do not understand. There is stuff going on that you do not undrestand.

I feel and smelled things that were not there. Two cases one we went ghost hunting and during the hunt we were told a man died here but our guide could say more several smelled smoke from a pipe. She saw your faces and said what did you smell" I said "a pipe" She stated he smoked a pipe and a few people smell. Do your know what TM is, you leave your body and go to other places. Most people who do it claim to see a beautiful place but I can not tell the place I went was anything for it was black and evil, so cold I came back screaming. What either time I can not tell but I felt and smelt things. Believe or not. I do not know people are talking to but it is not the died.

1Sa chapter 28. You should read the whole chapter (it's not very long). The short take is that a woman (known popularly as "the witch of Endor, from which Endora on Bewitched) called up dead Samuel's spirit and that spirit prophesied accurately. Thus, *most* Christians believe in this *in a general sense*. In other words, most Christians believe that such a thing is *possible*.
However, there is a far distance between *possible* and *happening*. Similarly miraculous instantaneous healing - most Christians believe that such is possible, but few have witnessed such a thing, and few believe such a thing simply because it is *claimed*. The natural outlook is skepticism.
It is also important to note that, unlike miraculous healing, communicating with the dead is, in general, frowned upon by Christians (in accordance with scripture). Indeed, spiritism (communicating with the dead by ritual or "channeling") is expressly forbidden. It's pretty easy to be skeptical of something that
1) only has as evidence the claim of 1 person
2) is forbidden by one's religion

The Roman church and her cohorts believe in this practice. It isn't biblical. It's also necromancy. That's a NO NO.
Genesis 3:19 - "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."
Dan 12:2 - "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
Eccl: 9:5 - "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing."

First of all Christians are forbidden to engage in witchcraft. 1 Samuel 15:23 states "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...". The only dead that the bible refers to are first the spiritually dead (sinners) and the dead (both believers & sinners). Man is a spirit, soul, and flesh & blood. When a man dies his soul is seperated from his body, and the body returns to the dust of the ground and his soul goes to his/her eternal reward be it heaven or hell. There is no returning to the earth to haunt anything or anyone. The spirits listed in the bible are The Holy Spirit, God's angels, man's spirit, and Satan & his fallen angels. If you encounter a haunting, it is simply one of Satan's fallen angels imitating a charasteristic of some dead person. Any christian communicating with the dead is in violation of God's holy word (bible). Sorry for the long answer, but if anyone claiming to be a christian and is in engage in such action is either unlearned in the bible or a liar and the truth isn't in them. I dare anyone (claiming to be a christian) to show that it is ok to do.

I am a Christian, and I do not believe in "ghosts" (as others know them) and communication with the dead. What people perceive as "ghosts" are actually demons impersonating dead people, not the dead people themselves. The Bible strictly forbids "communicating with the 'dead'" for this very reason - you are actually contacting demons, not your loved ones. The Bible tells us that the dead are "asleep" until Christ returns. They have no consciousness whatsoever during this time. There are several Bible passages I could quote to support this. Demons know everything there is to know about a person, and it would be quite easy for them to lead people astray who don't read their bible.

You're on a roll today Aurora!
As far as communicating with the dead is concerned, I won't go there; too much evil for a human to deal with. Rather just spend my energy focusing on the good (Seek ye first...)
