I think it's sad that you don't understand how giving to someone else can feel rewarding. That seems pretty selfish to me. Maybe you should consider finding a volunteer position and giving it a shot. I've been volunteering since I was 14 and still volunteer a few hours a week. I love it. It's hard to explain but it's just a lot of fun! You meet people you never would have had the chance to meet, and I've been so lucky in my life that I should give back to someone who can't help themselves.

giving and serving others. i had quite a fex volunteer jobs in my day. not working in a nursing home or a church out reach program or something i dont connect to people. But when i was younger i volunteered at an art center i taught some older kids glass work talked to them about yeah life sucks but this is how i dont let i bother me. got to meet other artist and even helped a couple kids deal with thier parents sending them to an orphanage. I was able to relate and communicate. It was rewarding becouse i helped someone that is in the same shoes that i was in or find a love of an art that i love. thats rewarding .

Perhaps they enjoy the specific type of work they are doing and they see the rewards in it. Have you ever tried volunteering for something that you liked, cared about or had a passion for? I think if it was something that you enjoyed doing you might understand where others are coming from.

its true an outside person cant see why its rewarding and stuff like that, but if you try you'll feel really happy too. It happens because you know how these people that you are helping ended up in the situation and you slowly become friends with them and they'll tell stories about their life and about the family they had.. to know your helping and changing people's lives is very rewarding

Sometimes during the hard, physical work of actually helping it's not a lot of fun, but when the hard work is over and they person looks you in the eye and sincerely says thank you, it makes you feel pretty good about your self. Most of the reward is in the joy of the person(s) you've helped.

To be a good volunteer you have to love people, you have to care about their life and their future, most volunteers are more spiritual than the average person, and they usually have had problems of there own along the way and have had to lean on others for help and one time or another. They know what it means to really need help. Thats why its so rewarding to me, I have had my problems and I love to help others now get thru theirs, As a Christian who loves the Lord and his people he put on this earth I feel a real calling towards helping others and the warm feeling I get in my heart says it all. Love thy neighbor as thyself!!

For some, helping or giving a hand to people and then observing their happiness, is very rewarding.

I used to volunteer at the local hospital in the terminal level.. it was rewarding to bring happiness to someones day who might not have anyone to visit them or listen when they want to talk..
maybe you should try it and then form your own opinion.

I'm sorry you do not understand this feeling! Giving is a lot better than receiving and it is also clearly stated in the Word of God!
Giving makes us feel useful and makes us practice love. There is no love without giving!
Sorry but your thought is so selfish!!

It is. People like to help when they can. Sometimes they do get taken for granted by some people and they get used. Which isn't fair.
