Please ignore the grammer errors as I am a hypothyroid male>>>

Hi I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year ago and all I do is take medications (Hormonal)..
(I am a 22 years old male by the way) I use to be a very avtive smart atheletic young guy, but since about three-four years ago things have taken a bad turn. Hypothyroidism has put a U-turn in my life, I am no longer smart but am dum compared to the average people around me, my memory (wait i have no more memory, lol)has decreased significantly and I am sluggish in speech, and life is getting worse it seems as depression seems to be setting in from timt to time.

I wanted to know if there was something else that I could do
Like eat some certain foods that are good for the thyroid gland
or exercise the thyroid through yoga maybe?
Meditate, be one with God,..pray?

Can you please share with me anything other than eating the medications that you do for you HYPOthyroidism?

thanks to all who reply !

i would go , with praying and always have know that everything will be better one day. not saying it will cure it but it will give u confidence and makes u feel like a better person, but to be better one day u must not commit suicide, dotn even think about it

The title of you question caught my attention and I can tell you, as an ex-depression sufferer, suicide is NOT the cure. I know nothing about hypothyroidism except that my gran had thyroid problems (overactive, i think). Anyway, I've looked it up on Google and found these websites. There's loads to read but I hope you'll find something of use. Best of luck for the future.

Hello sweetie... I'm sorry that u are going through all these physical and mental changes. I know how you feel though because I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and the doctor told me that I have to be on meds for life. I've been seeing an Endocrinologist and he told me that I needed to have surgery.

I've been feeling very weak and lost about 45 pounds. Even when I sleep for 10 hours, I feel so fatigued throughout the day. I can't even walk a block without huffing and puffing. I consider myself a very smart person and I constantly try to keep up with my reading and memory so I'm fine there. I just try to cope with what I have because I know it could be worse.

Thank God I have friends and family getting me through this

suicide is not a cure believe me i was diagnosed with an illness and i am on thyroid med. i know where your comming from i take like 10 meds a day. exercise is a good anti- depressant but if your sluggish, ( and by the way i have alot of your symptoms as well) you can't exercise. its easy for people to say just get up and doit but they don't get it. i was so exhausted i literally couldn't see straight. You have to proactive and be forceful with your dr. and demand ( no this making me way too fuzzy, ect ) I need something else, or i heard about such and such and iwant to try it. if your dr. doesn't woek with you FIND ONE THAT WILL, FAST. ALSO IFYOU CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT BRING SOMEONE TO THE DR'S THAT WILL FIGHT FOR YOU. i don't know what kind of dr. your going to but maybe a psychiatrist might be able to help.
good luck

Exercising is an anti-depressant! So is the sun! Eating right and exercising is key to a happy life, there aren't really any happy food lol. as long as they are healthy and tasty.

But as to your problem...you really should if your doctor and put you on some anti-depressants. Maybe you should make some new positive friends.

I hope i helped.
