Biblically, there are no past lives and we are forbidden to look into the future. We look to God for guidance only...............
It's enough to trust that God knows what He is doing in our lives.

It is not against the rules, because frankly there are no rules. Human beings have a tendency to project themselves onto the universe, and this is something that you need to let go of. There are no cosmic punishments. The only place hell exists is on earth.
If you aren't ready to see your past lives, because it would impede your growth, than you simply wouldn't see them. It's as simple as that. Sometimes when people try to do a past life regression they get nothing. But this is not that common. Honestly, viewing past lives usually helps us understand ourselves and the universe better. Only positive things can come from that.
Also, very perceptive of you about the future. One thing people usually gloss over is the linear time problem.
If you accept the fact that your lives are picked ahead of time, then you must also accept the fact that your spirit had to see the future to pick it. This means that time is not a straight line.
Unfortunately, I'm still stuck on earth and can't answer the time problem.

I think that for the most part we do not remember our past lives fully, only incidents, and then only those that had some sort of affect on those lives...It's not like reading a book or recalling your first date in this life time.
We can't see i to the future because it does not exist yet. It's the future.

No, not at all. For one to look into past lives I recommend a book by Ethan Vorley. You can download it online . Past life regression may help opne dela with prior truama's that cause imprints within you. By using Vorleys methods you May deal with the issue of the past making your present life and furture ones of a higher awarness. It is my understanding this journey may not be a pleaseant one and involves dealing with high emotional issue of your past; by dealing with them and understanding how those emotions of the past effect you today, your behaviors today are seriously altered to the positive.
The "future" is not writen in stone; you have endless probabilities there and all the choices are yours.
I recommend you read up on Jane Roberts "Seth Materiels" as this is highly enlighjtning.
The rules your speaks of are, my guess, rules of the "Church"...religions have taught ignorance and intolernace too long, take control of your own life today.

Anybody can do as they choose, but IMO I'd say that you should be more concerned with each present moment. The future will take care of itself if your deeds are altruistic and virtuous, and well... the past is just GONZO, so why worry about it?

Yes I think it's wrong to look into the future. Just let God guide you. It's the only way to learn the lesson.

I have read several of Edgar Cayces books - he would give readings when he would go into a trance about one's health, past lives etc.
Not only have I read about past lives by others, but I have experienced some past lives myself. This information did not just come to me - it was revealed to me by my Creator. Why - I have no idea, but evidently it is important for me to know. It will be up to me to put the pieces of the puzzle together, in the proper order.
Not only do I have association with Socrates in a past live but Socrates is with me in this lifetime as one of my Spiritual Guides. Would you like to know just such information? It is very beneficial to me to have this information. For during Socrates time he put nothing down in writing - but he was one of the great thinkers of his time. It was Plato who has tried to share some of Socrates knowledge.. I am the Sage of this Age because of my Socrates connection - some 2475 years in the making. So be it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. The future is not set in stone and we learn from the past.

No, absolutely not. If we were not meant to do so, we would not be able to. Sometimes I think we work on problems over several lifetimes, and it helps in life 3 if we can remember bits from 1 and 2. It saves starting over.
