Each copy has its own code, usually it's on the box or envelope the disc came with so that it cuts down on piracy and illegal copies. If you don't have it then your copy might be illegal - you can get hold of crack codes on the internet but make sure they come from a reputable source.

The code should have been in the packaging when you bought it. If it's missing, you probably should take it back to the retailer and get your money refunded under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 As Amended.
You might wish to check out Inkscape, which is an Open Source alternative to Adobe Illustrator.

They are all different. The serial number is found on the box that it came in.
