They claim to be Christians but they have all these other gods, are they the same?

I've been studying Latter-day saints, while remaining atheistic so I can answer this from an unbiased view. They believe in the Heavenly Father as God, his son Jesus Christ as their savior, and the Holy Ghost. They don't believe Jesus is Father, like most Christians don't and they do believe that it is only through Christ that one can be saved. They believe that Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are united in purpose, but are separate personages aligned with the same cause.

They read the KJV 1611 Bible and follow it just like other Christians do, but they believe to have additional scripture called the Book of Mormon and they also believe in modern day prophets. The Book of Mormon does not take precedence over the Bible nor does it contradict it.

I have not yet investigated Jehovah's Witnesses so I am not sure about them. I have spoken to both Jehovah's Witnesses and LDS who believe that each one is incorrect in their doctrine but I am not sure of the official stance of their Churches.

So yes, they do worship the same Father you do, and they are saved through the same Jesus that saves you.

There is only one God. Mormons and JW's believe in Him. Some Mormons and some JW's say the other God is different, but the only difference is that both groups say God's words as written in the Bible mean slightly different things. Just don't confuse the God of the Bible with the pagan arab moon god allah of islam that the koran talks about. That's a totally different thing.

No.

It seems best for Mormons themselves to describe the process by which they imagine that humans can become gods on the order of Jesus (or Jehovah). Witnesses do not suppose that any book but the Bible has inspired infallible wisdom, and so (by contrast), Jehovah's Witnesses simply note the bible's existing usage of the terms "god" and "gods".

Of course, Almighty Jehovah ("God the Father") has no peers. Yet, the bible plainly mentions other "gods".
...(1 Corinthians 8:5) there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth

Jesus as "a god": (John 1:1; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:18)
Angels as 'gods': (Psalm 82:1)
Satan as a 'god': (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Human judges as "gods": (Psalm 82:6-8)

It seems obvious that a person is not polytheistic merely because he believes the bible, or because he acknowledges the existence of these other so-called "gods". A person is polytheistic when he WORSHIPS multiple "gods", believing them to be peers. Jehovah is "the one true God" in the sense that He has no rival.
...(Psalm 86:8,10) There is none like you among the gods, O Jehovah... You are God, you alone.
...(Exodus 22:20) One who sacrifices to any gods but Jehovah alone is to be devoted to destruction.

Go back to school and learn that both Latter-day Saints & Jehovah's Witnesses worship only one God. The same God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob.

Both groups are polytheists.

The Mormons believe in many gods;
and the JW's believe in Jehovah the Big God and Jesus the little god. (that makes two gods in my book)

You dont have to worship more than one god to be a polytheist. Just a belief in more than one qualifys a person as a polytheist.

We, Mormons, do not have other gods. We do not worship them, but we acknowledge that they're there. If you would read your bible you would know that there are many references to multiple gods. Mormons believe there is only one Heavenly Father, aka God(capital G) but there are other gods(lowercase g) out there in the universe. We only worship God(capital G).

I've read some JW literature that exposes some of the error of the Mormon faith. At risk of being contradicted by the JWs, I'll stick my neck out and say they believe the Mormons are polytheists and their system of deity is false.

I'm not aware of any Mormon literature that speaks of the JWs beliefs. But there's a need to beware because although Mormons are inclined to say they believe the Trinity doctrine. upon examination they do not. The JWs, on the other hand, abhor the Trinity doctrine and ridicule it (whilst holding to 1 Almighty God plus 1 mighty god = 2 G/gods = polytheism IF they give any worship to their little god.) The Mormons believe the God Elohim created the God Jehovah who (either) created/or is the God Jesus Christ and that every planet has its own God. It's complicated!

Orthodox Christianity warns against the false theology of both groups.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in one God, the one mentioned at;
Psalms 83:18- "That people may know that you, whose
name is JEHOVAH, You alone are Most
High over all the earth."

Revelation 4:11- "You are worthy, JEHOVAH, even our God,
to receive the the glory and the honor and
the power, because you created all things
and because of your will they existed and
were created"

I will not speak for the LDS.

I think they are the same. In response to another answer, Mormons believe in Jesus and "Jehovah" is another word for God. Any Protestant believes in the Trinity and in "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" because both names mean God in Hebrew.

God is god is god is god...no matter what you believe. Everyone may have a different name for him and there belief may differ but in the end it's the same god...The same heaven and hell. There is only one god. (Father,Son,Holy Spirit - all the same.)
I guess what I am trying to say is as long as you believe and do right spirtitually you will be redeemed when you get to heavens gate...
