Dont listen to the moron who said 124.....the general rule is 100 pounds at 5' and anywhere from 5 to 8 pounds for every inch...that would put you at 140-164. You're the right weight and probably just need to tone up.

It's all about distribution.
I'm 5'9" and 170.
My waist is a bit poochy.
According to the link, based on medium frame (as I am), then I'm a few pounds overweight - ideal should be between 139-153.
We could probably both stand to lose a few pounds.

Simply giving your height and weight isn't enough to determine that. Remember muscle is roughly two and a half times as dense as fat. So, many well developed body builders have a BMI (body mass index) which would rate them as obese! You may have large or small bones which would effect your weight as well. It would be better to measure your percentage of body fat to determine your optimum weight.
It is more important that you exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet than worry about your weight.

Perhaps 165? What type of frame do you have? Are you busty? You should be at the weight that you feel best at, not what some guide tells you. At 5' 8" you have the enviable ability to hide a few extra pounds and still look good.
Hope this helps.

According to the medical weight charts (they hang in every doctor's office in the USA), at 5'8 you should be at least 131 pounds and no more than 165 pounds.
I'm 5'8 and weigh 142 pounds. That's a comfortable weight for me and one that I am able to maintain.

I'm 5'8 and I weigh 186lbs, HOWEVER, i'm not fat in the slightest, I lift a lot of weights. So, if you're like me and you have a fair amount of muscle, i'd say 170lbs is the MINIMUM weight you want to be aiming for, but if you just want to be slim..... between 146 and 150lbs is your ideal weight.

according to BMI index a healthy weight for your height could be anywhere between 130 to 160, which depends on your bone structure and all that. but i would say 145-150 is probably the weight you will look and feel the best at for your height :)

That sounds fine to me. If you are out of shape you could just tone up a little and be fine where you are or lose a little, maybe just walk everyday and light weights so you don't get too many muscles sticking out. Just don't become obsessed with it and go to far to be skinny...

Make a doctor's visit. No one will know better than them how healthy you are. That is the goal to be healthy, not skinny!
If you are happy, work it like you earned it. I know people who are twice as heavy and dress appropriately for their age and body type and are more beautiful than women half their size. It is all in how you carry yourself.
