The term you are using has been used in the bible for worthy priesthood holders who have lived their lives in accordance with what God has told them. Christ even said in John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?(Notice it has a little "g"!!!!!) Also, in Psalms 82: 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

In Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. To me, this concept if very biblical. We have the potential to be joint-heirs with Christ, and to gain all the Father has.

To do this, it's pretty easy: Repent, be baptized, receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the proper authority and then live your life as God wants you to live. That means continual repentance and following all Gods commandments and laws. It also means keeping all of the covenants and promises you make with the Lord. This isn't always possible, that's why we lean so heavily on the atonement.

We can learn all the Father knows. That doesn't mean we are equal to Him, or above Him. That will never be the case. He will always be our God, and Christ will always be our savior. That isn't going to change. We will just have the option of become more like Father. Who wouldn't want that?

Pretty basic stuff. It's in the Bible: Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

I don't understand where some of the other (hostile) answers are coming from. The LDS church does quite a bit of good in the world, and its members (granted, I'm biased) are good people.

Uh, yeah, what mygorgeousgirls said-

I don't understand why all the confusion. LDS teaches that we are literally God's children... He does repeatedly refer to us as His children, asks us to call Him Father......

Just as a 3-year old has the capacity to be like her mother some day, we have the potential to be like our Father some day.

The toddler has to go through a lot of growth and developement and learning before she can be like her mom.... We have a LOT of growing and developing and learning to do before we can be joint heirs with Christ, as promised.

Some will say we're being blasphemous or following Satan (Genesis 3:5).. the thing is that where Satan offered a short cut (ineffective), we're offering God's route (guaranteed).

LOL- only men can become gods?.... uh, because their wives become goddesses... DUH!!! oh, and no, I don't feel cheated out of opportunities or opressed by the leadership of the church or like a 2nd class being in comparison to my husband....
