why. God is protecting them from what's to come' That may be two different verses I've put into one there. I'm thinking it may be Ecclesiastes but not sure.

Is this the passage your talking about?

Ecclesiastes 7:15-18 (NIV)

In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these:
a righteous man perishing in his righteousness,
and a wicked man living long in his wickedness.
Do not be overrighteous,
neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?
Do not be overwicked,
and do not be a fool—
why die before your time?
It is good to grasp the one
and not let go of the other.
The man who fears God will avoid all extremes.

***UPDATE***
You may also be referring to this passage:

Isaiah 57:1 (NLT)

Good people pass away;
the godly often die before their time.
But no one seems to care or wonder why.
No one seems to understand
that God is protecting them from the evil to come.

I think it's at the end where it says: "Haha, April fool!"- which interstingly is also the last page of the Koran and the Torah too, not to mention the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the Hindu epics and all the other heavy paper-weights.
