The bible is the word of god.
Christian faith is based on the bible telling the truth.
Yet when your church teaches you something that is not in line with the bible you choose your chuch over gods word the bible.
Example- Acts 2:27 ,31 &32 Jesus was raised from hades (hell) Yet you say he was a perfect sacrafice .Hell is where sinners go for punishment so why was Jesus sent to hell ?
Ecclesiastes 9:5 the dead are conscience of nothing .So why punish those not conscience of the torment ?
Your own bibles words .
One must be correct the other wrong , so which one is it , the church or the bible ?
And what is the logic behind your answer >

If you understand the Bible, you will know that 'Hell' or 'Sheol' was not only a place for the wicked to go. It was a place for those who died. There was a separation between the righteous and the condemned there.

I think that's the part you are missing.
Jesus went to preach the Gospel there, according to some, and 'set the captives free'. There are captives to sin here on Earth, and there are captives in Hell as well. There was supposed to be some captives in Hell that didn't respond to the Gospel, even while being tormented in Hell! Think of that!

Um, I ALWAYS go with the Bible before the church!

Q: "Example- Acts 2:27 ,31 &32 Jesus was raised from hades (hell) Yet you say he was a perfect sacrafice .Hell is where sinners go for punishment so why was Jesus sent to hell ?"

A: He PAID the price for us.

Q: "Ecclesiastes 9:5 the dead are conscience of nothing .So why punish those not conscience of the torment ?"

A: You need to look at this in the context in which it was written. Solomon's main thing was the wisdom of the "now"
not the afterlife. Ecc. is all about how we live this life and die and the material wealth we gain - we just don't know what will happen to it after we die, i.e. concious of nothing on earth - the book is very much focused on what we do on earth - nothing else - it is a book of wisdom based on Solomon's limited perspective - He did not have a great understanding of the eternal - it was revealed more by Jesus!

Solomon's expertise in wisdom was very intense and deep, yet limited in scope.

I believe in God. I don't belong to a church or have a religion. I believe in the truth that is in the Bible. I do think parts of the Bible are fear based writings that were written to control the people of that time. The parts of the Bible I believe in are that Jesus is the son of God, and everything that has to do with love. I don't believe in fearing God. Some people ask me how I pick and choose what I want to believe from the Bible and my answer is simple. First of all, I ask God for my answers, which most of the time do not come from the Bible. It's ok that I don't fully understand all the stories in the Bible. He has taught me everything I need and I believe that is how He wants it to be for me. If everyone could see that all of the love and good you read in the Bible, that is what God wants you to know and apply to your life. I'm interested in the history of the people of that time and how things were done but I don't worry about not knowing everything. I am guided by God to see the truth in the Bible and the truth is everything you read that is love. Too simple for some people but that is how I see it. As for the people that don't believe in anything, I believe they'll have many lives to find the truth. I don't believe in Hell, I believe it just takes the person who doesn't believe, much longer to find peace for eternity. The farther you are from the truth the longer it will take to learn the lesson of true love. And that is why I think we are all here.

The Bible does not teach that Jesus went down into Hell. Most people use the passage in 1 Peter to argue that but it still doesn't say that.

Second, Ecclesiastes 9:5 was written when the predominate view was that dead descended into "sheol" or "the grave". The NT introduces Heaven and Hell as we understand them today. Why in the NT? Well if you want to know EMAIL me but I won't fill up dead space here. I will stick to your question.

I will always chose the Bible over any "church" leader. My Church's teaching is strictly on the Bible.

A closer look at the original languages of the Bible reveals that "hell" simply means "the grave."
What most people refer to as hell is more correctly described as "the lake of fire" in the Book of Revelation. What you are bringing up is a case a semantics, word usage.

Psalm 16 clarifies a bit:
The soul of a Believer will not remain in the grave.
God's Holy One (Jesus) shall not see corruption.
Our souls will be raised from the dead, just as Jesus was.

You are working from what is commonly called "black and white thinking."

You give an "either-or" condition, omitting other possibilities.

1. Hell in that context is not the place of punishment, but rather where the body resides until resurrection. The later hell is the place of punishment.

2. Ecclesiastes is written in regards to the context of things that are "under the sun" therefore this unconsciousness is in relation to being "under the sun" also.

As far as "Christian logic" goes:

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Corinthians 1:25

The entire point is that Jesus "took on" the sin of mankind. He paid so we wouldn't have to.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 is simply there to point out that once a person is "dead", there is absolutely no hope for the soul that hasn't accepted Christ. There's a difference between the physical body and the spiritual soul...

First Jesus became sin to atone for us..then rose again.
Second. Ecclesiastics is a lament on the mortality of man it asks a question of life. All is vanity.. It isn't saying the dead are conscience of nothing it is asking what if..you have to read the whole thing.
Try an easy to read Bible and use the study notes, it helps a lot.

Jesus went to "hades" in order to free those who were there from the Old Testament days. During the days of the OT, everyone, even the Prophets, went to hades. It wasn't a place of torture, it was a place that everyone went and were asleep.
The Bible says not even David ascended to heaven before Christ, and he was a great King.

Jesus went to hell willingly to pay the price for YOUR sins and MY sins............He did that FOR us.

The dead are conscience of nothing here on earth.....they are too busy being in torment in hell to even care about here......except they'll wish they could come back and have a do-over.
