As a past Christian I only ask these questions because I couldn't believe some of the stories in the Bible. Realisticly I have never seen with my own eyes or heard with my own ears about anyone being born without having sex and producing a child. Or a man dying before everybodies eyes and coming back to life. Or a man walking on water. Why were these people during this time so privilaged to see the master works of God and not future generations.

The things you listed were not even witnessed by many people, in fact only by those dedicated few.

As for other miracles that he did perform in front of many others, that still happens today. That just goes to show what you spend your time researching or watching.

You watch TV, then you probably won't know this.
There are people who go to other countries who see these kind of healings all the time, in fact in my small group /congregation, the pastor himself was about to die when he got miraculous healing and he had not a single trace of the sickness that next day.

So yeah, that depends on where you spend your time on.
Most likeley you wont see these things in church but rather in the missions field with REAL believers, not just those who jump on the boat for the heck of it.

I honestly don't believe you can be a true Christian if you leave the faith.
Kinda like. You joined for the wrong reasons so you were never really a true convert.

If I joined buddhism and my reason was because I think the fat guy is cool.
Do you really think I believed in buddhism or did I believe for the wrong reasons?

Or if I joined "Animal Lover Organization"
thinking I can go around having sex with animals.
thats the wrong reason too.

The same for thinking you were a christian just because you did the motions. hang out at church, did rituals, prayed, read the bible.
You can only be a true Christian if you become one for the right reason and you go through Christ. Not a priest, not a pastor, not a ritual.

a simple test you can check is this.

When you were a "christian"
how did your life change compared to when you were not a "christian"
why did your life change.

a simple question is.
DID YOU KNOW THE LORD.

typically the answer is "I thought I did"
which means you didn't

just be honest with yourself.

well first to be a Christian you would believe in Jesus Christ. And if you believed in Jesus, you would most definitely believe in God. And as for the 3rd part of the trinity, the Holy Ghost(or Spirit), Jesus said that he would give his believes the Holy Ghost. So if you believed in Jesus Christ, you would believe in his words and teachings, therefore believe in the Holy Ghost.
You ask why do we not see the miracles of old today. Do we not see miracles today? Maybe God does greater miracles today. With hollywood tricks, would anyone believe someone was walking on water if they had video of it?
As for real miracles, what about the baby last month in Michigan that was picked up by a tornado and was found alive with only scratches and bruises a few blocks away.
If you were to see only one miracle in your life would you want to see someone walk on water or would you like to see an innocent person's life be spared.

Jesus came at a time that was prophesied by Daniel (483 years after the order to rebuild Jerusalem by Xerxes)...You may have seen more if the Jewish nation had accepted him as messiah. Since they didn't, he said he would leave, and come back at a time when they were in trouble, and would accept him better.

The virgin birth was prophesied in Genesis...so that was God's plan, to distinguish the messiah from common man....since God is all powerful..nothing is too hard for him.

Jesus taught about the Father in heaven, himself and the holy spirit who was to come and take care of people after he left. the catholic church distorted this some and ended up with the trinity doctrine....where all 3 were equal..but Jesus himself taught that the Father was greater than he was.....

Are you venting, or asking a question? Modern christianity picked up the trinity from paganism, and therefore christianity is pagan itself. BUT, christianity is not what the Scriptures are teaching. Stop making comparisons of the Scripture and what some baal priest preacher said it means, and find what it says for yourself.
1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
So says ADAM CLARK, a well known commentator, on this passage: "But it is likely this verse is not genuine. It is wanting in every MS. of this epistle written before the invention of printing"

First off, Jesus is God; God, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one. Jesus is God in the flesh, thus God became human through Christ. Because Christ is sinless, infallible and eternal and was born of God, He has the power to walk on water, perform miracles -healing the sick, giving sight to the blind and such. If you question the bible, then you never really were Christian to begin with because you didn't have the guidance of the Holy Spirit and have no understanding of God's word. Remember that, in the scriptures, it says, "For by grace are ye saved; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God". It also says, "For we walk by faith; not by sight". Another scripture that may help you understand that we don't rely on our own eyes and ears to believe in God: "Faith cometh by hearing...." (forget the rest of the verse - I don't have a bible in front of me 'cause I'm at work right now), but if you have a bible, look up that verse. It says that we are not to rely on ourselves for spiritual knowledge or wisdom. We receive knowledge and understanding of God's word through the presence of His Holy Spirit. Only God can open our hearts and minds to understand His word. Without God, we have no knowledge. Bottom line is, to believe in God, it is through faith - NOT with our own physical eyes and ears. May God bless you.

That is why Christianity is a FAITH based walk. I have never seen any of these miracles either, but I have experienced the love and forgiveness of Jesus in my life and that in itself is a miracle to me.
I don't know how you can claim to be a Christian and say you have left the faith. Jesus is there no matter if you believe or not. He still loves you don't allow doubt from the enemy to let you wavier.

You must be born again to enter the Kingdom of heaven.

God is God and can do what he wants, and he lived in that time thats why they got to see his wondrous works,in our time he is still doing miraculous things,For one he healed my daughter supernaturally, she could not walk, talk or eat normal foods and today she is a normal healthy child doing all these things and going to a normal school, his examples exercised his faith as we should do the same, and God used a virgin to concieve because Jesus for he was the son of God that had to live in total obedience or else we would not have salvation, because of his sacrifice ,and maybe you are in the wrong church if you are not seeing miracles manifested, also spiritual insight and wisdom is needed to know the mysteries behind his word which only comes thru the Holy Ghost its called revelation on what is word means and how you can apply it to your life,Ask God for eyes to see and ears to hear for his ways our not our ways, and its going to call for the infilling of the Holy Ghost, are you ready for that if you are e-mail me at Llisadrew@yahoo.com Be blessed and I will keep you in my prayers so that God gives you understanding

Christ was not artificial insemination but this happens quite often today. People dead as long as 4 hrs and more have been brought back to life by believers and prayer. I have not heard of anyone but Jesus walking on water.

Miracles happen even today. You are just not walking in the midst of the believers.

Because it's the truth of the Scriptures.........

That's what makes it easy for me. The New Testament Scriptures as a whole point to the triune God........

One God.....who eternally exists in 3 distinct Personalities:
Father, Son & Holy Spirit

1 John 5:6-8
“This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.”

And His indwelling Holy Spirit makes it come alive to us today
