i am way over hyperactive. and sometimes i act very immature when i go throught these phases in my daily routine. sometimes even resorting to acting like a teenage boy[i'm a girl] by saying the words "penis" or stuff like that at random moments... i am not meaning to act like this. because any other time i am very mature. and serious. and i even get to the point that i am really sad. and ever since my doctor put me on zoloft for my depression it has only got more drastic. between my highs and lows. help me please?

It looks like the Zoloft might not be the right thing for you. It would be a good idea for you to make an appointment with your doctor and give him the info you wrote above. Tell the doc you need to try a different approach. I don't know what meds will work best - that's usually trial-and-error, so you may have to try several more meds to find one that helps without side effects.

Its also a good idea to try some therapy. Cognitive behavior therapy is very effective for learning how to control impulsive behaviors - its not a bunch of Freudian babble about your mother - its learning how your own personality and moods work, and then how to develop habits to have greater control of your moods and behavior.

You probably recognize when your thoughts are starting to jump around. When you see that things are starting to go in the wrong direction, you can learn how to do things like giving yourself a timeout to take a deep breath and stop everything until you organize your thoughts and slow down to a manageable pace. I have to do this all the time - its like rebooting a computer.

Hi hon.... if your medication isn't doing its job, the first thing you need to do is talk to your doctor. it's YOUR body, and you have the right to a medication which is helpful, not detrimental.

Also, if you are having issues which are interfering with your daily life, sometimes it is a good thing to consider talk therapy. It is an option.

As for saying and doing things which you feel inappropriate, take the time to stop, count to 20 in your mind before you say something or act upon something. These mere 20 seconds will give you ample time to change youd mind about whatever it is you are going to say/do. It takes a lot of practice, but it does work to help change our behaviors.

take care.

I would start writing a journal. Writing down your thoughts helps you to organize them and make more sense of them.
