it is called wear, the trans is 10 years old now and the clutches and bands are wearing out, it is quite common i am not sure how hard you a accelerating or how hard this"jolting" is but if you are relatively light on the gas does it still do it bad? seems to me that you(may) are mashing the gas down enough to cause in to "downshift" witch might be your jolt. go to a very reputable transmission shop if if gets worse, also change the fluid and filter to see it that helps and the filter could be clogged, at a shop that could be $75-250 depending on what kind of service should be done( expensive yes but cheaper than a whole transmission) trans fluid should be changed every 2 years or 24,000 miles witch ever comes first

First of all all dodge polaris are fuel injected. I would recommend changing the fuel filter first and see what it does. A lot of people over look the fuel filters on there cars. They should be changed every12,000 miles. Thats about every 12 oil changes for the average Joe. If it continues to do that, then you might want to change your O-2 sensor.

First change the fuel filter. If that doesn't help, check the fuel pump. It sounds like you are starving for fuel.
