I will ask God himself to touch your heart in a good way, and let his light shine on you so you can get to know him. I`m not a church-going guy, but I admit I had the luck to be protected by him since the day I was born ( I`m a twin ) and even nowadays I feel that somehow I`m one of his favorite humans.
Why so many people take so long to get a close encounter with God, I have no idea. Some people experience things that show there is more than the eyes can meet, but then again we don`t know why we`re chosen first. All we can do is ask him to spread the good and help us all make a better life while it lasts.
Again, I`m not a religious guy. But I like to be real and not pretend to hide the truth from anyone. There`s too many questions unanswered, because at the end, we`re just humans. We can`t pretend to know it all, else we`d be all Gods!

He did. Just as He did contact us by becoming a man, Jesus the Christ, He also spoke to us through many different people, times and cultural contexts, that makes up of this compilation of 66 books called the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 in the Bible says, "All Scripture is God-breathed (inspired) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (See also Hebrews 1:1-3, and 2 Peter 1:20-21)

God spoke to people who then wrote what God said to them. The new testament is mostly the teachings of Jesus Christ written by some of his disciples.
Maybe you should read the Bible first, then decide if you believe In it or not. You can start with the book of John, if the whole Bible seems to overwhelming to read all at once.

Supposedly, the god of Abraham did write the first set of the Ten Commandments. There are varying accounts about what substance they were on including a two sided film of some sort.
Moses made the second set after breaking the fist set in anger.

He didn't. Various Jewish prophets, kings, and nomads wrote the Bible over a period of about 1000 years. They wrote it in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin.
btw, English was in its very early forms, not to mention the fact that the people who wrote the Bible did not know English, or even know about that part of the world.

God has servants. Some of the servants are not human, and some are. What God did by having some of His servants write the Bible, is prove His ability to guide men rightly. And the texts which are written are not for God, it is for men. God didn't need it, men needed it.

Christians believe that the people who wrote in the collected Bible were inspired by God and were divinely "told" what to write

Which would be more interesting to you - a book that claims it was written by God, or a book that is historically verified to have been written by many different people from different places and times who never met each other but all wrote in the same spirit, consistent with one another, and in perfect harmony?
God did write the Bible. He used human hands to prove it.

Er - it was written in Hebrew and Greek. English didn't exist back then.
But, you probably wouldn't read it, anyway. People are just looking for excuses to reject God and His Authority.
Hebrews 1:1-4 (BBE) says, "In times past the word of God came to our fathers through the prophets, in different parts and in different ways; (2) But now, at the end of these days, it has come to us through his Son, to whom he has given all things for a heritage, and through whom he made the order of the generations; (3) Who, being the outshining of his glory, the true image of his substance, supporting all things by the word of his power, having given himself as an offering making clean from sins, took his seat at the right hand of God in heaven; (4) Having become by so much better than the angels, as the name which is his heritage is more noble than theirs."
So, read the life and times of Jesus Christ as recorded by four of His close followers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and see for yourself what Jesus said.
