Hi,

both versions of the Highlander, the standard and the hybrid, are produced in Japan.

Look at the serial number on the plate located on the extreme front edge of the dashboard. You can see it from outside. The first letter or number for that 16 digit number is the final plant location.

For the Highlander, the first digit is a "J", meaning Japan. Most Corollas and Camrys will have a "2" or "4" for the plants on the US they were made at.

All manufacturers use this system, look up the coding for each and you'll know where the vehicle was actually made, the level and types of types of equipment in it, and a lot of other arcane information. Each letter or number means something.

Made in two plants in Japan (Kyushu and Osaka)

Starting in 2010 it will be manufactured in the Tulepo, Miss plant
