Of course. You can cook many wholesome meals in a counter top oven - lasagna, roasts, meatloaf, stuffed bread, grilled mushrooms and much more if you get creative.

You can cook meats and stuff in an oven - but if you don't want to be basting frequently, cover the dish with aluminum foil and seal it around the edges. Then cook on high heat for about 20 minutes or so, then unwrap and cook for another 20 minutes. the time of course depends on what you're cooking and the size of the chunk of meat.

Grilling and broiling is the same thing. We call it broiling in the US and grilling in the rest of the world.

Broiling food is good because it can be left relatively unattended and you use less oil/fat too!

Hope this helps.

Sid

Sid Kauhller answered it perfectly. The only thing I can add - also being from the U.S. - I associate broiling with an oven and grilling with a barbecue.

My hubby and I travelled for 18 months through Canada and the U.S. in a 25 foot 5th-wheel trailer after retiring and we lived on our toaster oven. The only thing I couldn't use it for was to cook a chicken whole (size problem) so naturally a turkey was out too. But parts of either worked great in there. I made cookies, main courses and anything I would in a regular oven including bread.

I like broiling because a lot of the fat runs off. I put bacon in my broiler, chicken breasts and thighs, toast.
