My daughter came home from school with a mild case of viral pink eye, The doctor said it would clear up on it's own and it did. Then a few days later I got it but it was bacterial pink eye and it sounds just like what you described. Take her to the doctor as soon as possible, because it is a miserable thing to have. Good luck and hope she feels better soon.
They will give you antibiotic eye drops and possibly a prescription to take orally as well.

Sounds like pink eye. It is HIGHLY contagious. She can spread it from one eye to the other, or from her eyes to someone else's. So wash, wash, wash her hands and try to keep her from rubbing them. See the pediatrician for medicine. It is usually a bacterial infection and can be treated with antibiotics, although it can be viral.

I would take her to the Dr. and see if she has pink-eye, which is extremely contagious to the rest of your family. Pink-eye symptoms are usually goopy-pussed-crusty eyes that itch like crazy.
