You don't have to be an E-4 to be a dental specialist.

Yes they are deployed, just like everyone else.

You don't think the toothferrie waves her magic wand so deployed soldiers don't get cavities, do ya ?

You don't need a high score on the asvab to be a dental specialist 68E.

All I can tell you is I remember sitting in an old dental chair while the dentist drilled my tooth with the type of drill that ran on a pulley system. In a hot tent at China Beach in Danang.
Very little Novocaine, lots of noise and afterward, he handed me some ibuprofen and said, get back to your unit!!!!

So to answer your ? regarding deployment, YES. A dentist can drill and fill while ducking!

Thjey get deployed. With 100,000 men in Iraq, there would be a need for dentists and support staff.
