I think Americans prefer Coffee...and in the East, people prefer more tea. I guess it also depends on the variety that is available to each region. I love both! but it also depends on what you're in the mood for.
Also, the Eastern countries have more expertise with tea-- there is no such thing called "chai tea" in India...as Chai means tea. The flavors and aromas of tea are a mixture of ground spices that are common amongst the people in that region. They don't have as many coffeeshops/coffee experts as the Western countries...so it all depends on which area has more expertise I guess...if that makes any sense.
In America...we have an abundancy of coffeeshops, types of coffees, and availability of the finest sorts of coffee. not so much the same for tea. in the East it's the opposite- tea has more antioxidancts and is more heavily consumed in Asia. There is an abundancy of variety of tea vs coffee there!

According to the latest information, Americans are more prone to be coffee drinkers. The reasoning for this is that having thrown the tea in the bay, it become unpatriotic to drink tea. Therefore Americans became cofee drinkers.

I rarely drink coffee. I do like the flavor IF it is doctored enough. I just can't drink plain black coffee.
I drink Teas. My Fav is Earl Grey, Hot. Right now my kick is Stash's Double Bergamot Eary Grey Black Tea. Other Hot Tea I am sold on is Tazo's Decalf Chai.
I try to get Green Tea is on a regular basis also. Ice teas I luv the flowery fruit ones. Over the summer I made Green Tea-Lemon-Orange Aid..it was a big hit.

I tried to be a tea person. As a teenager, I thought it would be so cool to drink tea and scorn those who drank coffee. Alas, I failed. I don't even like tea. I am a coffee person.

i think everyone likes coffee, but it really depends on where in america you are. im in the deep south and everyone here drinks sweet iced tea, coffee also, but tea is definatly top dog. its a normal part of life here, but my wife went to new york and said she couldnt get it anywhere. so depending on where you are is what is consumed more.

One cannot answer this question because the meaning of 'American' isn't clear:
- A person or attribute of South or North America
- A person or attribute of the indigenous peoples of South or North America
- A person or attribute of the United States of America: the political correct term is 'US-American'
