Not at all. I took the same decision years ago and have no regrets. Others have children as the centre of their lives and that's OK too.

I am proud to be childless, I have never had any maternal instincts, I do think 2 in a family is enough though, so if someone out their wants 4 you can have my share. I do have a problem with some parents exploiting us childless people though, years ago I was working shifts and because I didn`t have any children I had to do the late shift and the staff with got away with the easier shifts. Also when I moved into my house I lived on my own and tried to claim for a carpet but because I didn`t have children I got nothing. I have worked all my life and never claimed anything so I am not a scrounger.

No if thats what you want.

I wanted a child for years and was unable to get pregnant. I had just about given up and was going to try and cope with being childless when I got pregnant. I'm now the mother of an 11 month old baby boy.

So I have seen both sides of the coin and if you don't want children thats your choice. Just don't criticise those of us who do have them.

I don't have a problem with anyone being proudly childless.. If you don't want kids, then good for you that you didn't have any. Helping to keep down the world's population..

It does irk me a little when childless people try to tell a parent that they love someone else's child just as much as they would love their own. How would they know??

Childless by choice or for reasons beyond your control?

And is having a child the worst thing that could happen to you?

No problem here. I'm a proud mother of 2 boys & a girl, do you have a problem with that? Didn't think so. To each his own.

Nope... Not as long as you're happy about your choice :)
Mind you your question reminds me of a friend who made the decision not to have kids, she and her partner were happy with it but they got sick of other people's 'sympathetic' comments about their childless state.

No way - good for you. I am childfree and I can:

Have a lie in whenever I want
Go on holiday at a moments notice
Not have to deal with a screaming child in the supermarket
Read a good book in peace and quiet
Stay out all night and not have to worry about babysitters
Spend all my hard earned money on myself
Watch what I want on telly and no mind numbing 'kiddie shows'

My list could go on and on and on but basically I can do whatever I damn well please and just have myself to think about!

EDIT:

Ooh Merla - if only I had a pound everytime I heard that line about being lonely when I'm older. There's no guarantee your kids will come and visit you hun, for all you know they may grow up to be b@$tads and happily shove you in a home and forget ya. Sucks to be you if that happens.........

No. I'm proud to have children. Do you have a problem with that? Haha. Why would other people care if you don't have children?
