Put your xp cd in, restart, then format and install with it... Its that simple...

Note: If you bought a computer, and you format and put xp on it, you will most likely have to install the computers drivers (sound card, ethernet card, graphics card) from the drivers cd that came with your computer or from the internet.

Windows itself does not install most of the drivers of newer computers.

Why would you want to go backwards. We are all going to have to get up to speed with Vista sooner or later. It is not a bad operating system, it just needs a bit of tweaking. But if you must downgrade to XP then first get a copy of the drivers for your mother board and any add on cards that you have. Next put your XP cd into the drive and start the machine. When you get to the screen that asks if you want to install Windows now, read down a couple of line and follow the instructions on removing and creating the primary partition. After you do this you will need to format the hard drive. After formatting, XP will self install.

I would imagine that you will have to uninstall vista and make sure you have the full XP operating system. The other thing to consider is that Vista will eventually come out with SP-2 which will probably stabilize a lot of things and add drivers. I hate it when computer companies jump on the bandwagon and preinstall a software that's really not ready yet.

you can firstly go to microsoft.co.uk to downloads section, then you'll find the download -some xp operating systems are free too! download the operating system and save to a dvd - or several, then you'll have to use search on your pc to find out where and how to do a "full format" of your pc. or maybe look up "partition"- if you want to have 2 operating systems on your pc-which is usually possible with later pcs. Going with the first choice- of just doing a full format, you'll wipe everything, and you'll have to then insert the xp disc which you downloaded from microsoft. simple as that

Carry out a fresh installation from your XP disc.

Make sure you have the corresponding drivers for using your PC with XP first.

First off. GOOD JOB on upgrading to XP. Yea first put in the CD (XP disc) Then it'll ask you what you want to do. Then select install. It'll do it all by it's self then add the serial code when it asked you to. It'll take about an hour for it to fully be done.
