We have for years. This year we called it the Harvest round up. we have costume contest for the best biblical costumes, it is great. We have hayrides through the bible, where the folks get to see David fight Goliath, Noah and the Ark, Jonah in the belly of the whale, and Joshuah and the battle of Jericho. the kids love it, Each treat bag that we give out, has a tract in it that tell the plan of salvation. Many other churches bring their youth, and children to us as well as a lot of their adults.

Like Sentinel, my Catholic church celebrates the eve of all Saints day with a Mass. We also have what we call "Trick or Treat Off the Street" for the children in our congregation as well as the children in the neighborhood of our church. This way we can celebrate our religious beliefs and the kids can have fun and be safe.

Our church will have lights on the front stairs, and give out candy, and religious tracts, and information fliers about the church.

I'm the pastor, and I'm new to the church and community, and we thought this would be a good opportunity for me to meet parents as they walk by with their kids.

I suggested this Sunday, and I've not heard a single complaint -- in fact people have brought by candy for us to hand out.

Godspeed.

I recently moved, but my previous church did a thing called "Light the Night" which I guess was like a party for kids where they got candy and watched Veggie Tales. I never went to it though.

Luke 10:18
And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

There are two ways of looking at Halloween. Sure, from a Christian
perspective it's not especially great to have the kidlets dressing up as
the devil and whatnot. On the other hand, look at it from the devil's
perspective. You revolted against God and fell from heaven in this
primordial struggle against God Almighty Himself. In your titanic pride you
had high hopes of establishing yourself supreme in the universe. You
committed your greatest act of terrorism against God when you convinced His
own precious Adam and Eve to revolt against Him. You brought death
into the human race and you thought you had it made when God, as it
appeared to you, insanely chose to become human. On Good Friday you finally
had Him in your hand and you killed Him with all the savagery your
fallen angelic mind could invent. And now, for two thousand years, you've
been watching your revolt crumble as the Risen One turned all your
schemes into life for your victims and mockery for you. Now, so far from
ruling the universe, your face is on some stupid mask worn by a
6-year-old and the creatures you hoped to destroy are writing meditations
like this one to pull your pointy nose and remind you that the Christ you
killed has defeated you utterly.

Memo to Satan: Happy Halloween, loser!

There's a church around here that has their own version of a haunted house, the sick ****'s show images of abortions, short plays about how "evil" homosexuality is, the consequences (what they perceive as anyways) of premarital sex, and a number of other things that most people would rather not see. They got in trouble one year because so many people complained to the newspaper about being deceived into going to this "fun family event."

it is thought that the souls walked the earth before being called home on all saint's day; many countries have candle vigils at the cemetary praying for the souls of the deceased prior to tomorrow.

We celebrate the Pastor's son's birthday. He is now in Iraq . We will be praying that his son David, his son in law Allen, and thier entire company will have the strength of Caleb the son of Jephuneh who God granted ability to both go out and come in even when he was 85 years old. That not one man will perish under the shadow of the mighty God of Israel. God do so and more in the name of Jesus Christ Amen

I guess just as some non-believers are hypocritical and celebrate Christmas because they see it as just an opportunity for presents...I'm a hypocrit when it comes to Halloween...don't see it as a big deal...the kids see it as a night to dress up and get candy...in the big picture, it's harmless.

Our church offers "Trunk or Treat", an alternative to trick or treating at stranger's houses. It has nothing to do with the devil, it's just safer. The kids get to trick or treat at cars in the parking lot, where everyone knows each other.
