Why don't you petition the court so she has to pay child support? It's your own fault if you don't.
It's nice you are taking good care of your daughter. Perhaps stop allowing your ex to control your emotions from the house down the road -- control your own... what she does is not important....

I would deffiantely say that is a dead beat parent. I know most people view only fathers who act this way as dead beats, but with your decription of what goes on, your daughters mother fits the bill. It sounds to me like either the woman is in way over her head and piling up bills and debts faster than she can force a fake smile or she's doing a little somethin'-somethin' on the side to keep up her rent. I don't think she cares much at all or else she would be putting in some help with raising your daughter, fiancially and otherwise.
I think you're doing a good job. If it is stressful with the lack of finacial support from the mother, you could always take her to court for child support. I don't like giving advice like that because it puts you in closer view of social services (which is bad even if you are the most outstanding, financially able parent).
I bet your daughter suffers alot of pain because of her mother, or maybe it has been long enough that your daughter just doesn't care about her. Either way, its not good, and the only one making things bad seems to me to be the mother.
I am sorry you are having so much trouble with your daughter's mother. I hope it gets easier for you or at least the woman wakes up to what she has.

If money is an issue why are you buying Ashley a digital camera and an imac? Contrary to popular belief, these items are not essential to a child's survival. If there is a custody agreement where the mother is required to pay child support, talk to a lawyer about enforcing that agreement. If her mother chooses to live beyond her means that's her business. If she doesn't live up to the child support agreement take her to court. Easy solution.

My husband has had his two kids their whole lives (one is 17 and the other just turned 21). He has a court order to recieve child support and has NEVER received one dime from the woman. We live in Florida and they put dead beat dads in jail all the time. But this woman has never been put in jail for not paying. She doesn't have a relationship with the kids and they don't want one with her. Which I think is worse than her not paying child support. It's a sad situation.

Ashley doesn't want to hang out with her because she's a good judge of character. Good for you for raising your daughter. If it bothers you that her mother doesn't help out, then sue for child support.

Dead beat is one who does not pay child support. If you want to have help from mom to pay for child, take her back to court. If you are mad because you pay for your child, you need some help.
