Like if they just want to borrow lots of money, they don't have to come up with lies, they just need to pay it back.

dont loan a lyer anything unless you can afford to make it a gift when they dont pay it back, it does not take alot of effort to lie when it benefits a lyer, some people are just deceivers.

I would probably phrase it as "I don't need to know why you need the money. Just pay me back, and I don't have a problem with it." I think it's more polite than putting focus on them for lying.

Just be direct with them. Tell them, you don't have to keep making up stories when you ask me for money or whatever. Just ask me. All I ask in return, is that you pay it back timely. No need for you to make up a lie too. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Wow, that indeed is hard especially when you do not want to embarrass them. Well, I just believe that it took them lots of guts to resort to borrowing money and lie at that because of some urgent need. I will just assure myself that I am helping somebody who is in dire need.
