lets face it, isn't it like using an A-bomb to kill a single ant?
How is shooting a buck tied to a tree with its hooves crazy glued to the ground hunting?
shoudn't we be using philosophy or religion only to counter the theist arguments so that the playing field is fair?
You wouldn't expect a pro bantam weight to beat a pro heavyweight would you?

what I'm saying is:
be nice, be fair, we don't need a shut out every single time. let them at least score a touchdown, even if the score is 77-7, at least they score.
can't you see that they are getting dissatisfied and don't want to play with us because they complain we are here?
"why do athiests even post here"
thats a cry of defeat and frustration because they can't even stay in the game.
play hard but
be nice.
remember:
if its in the game,
its in the game.

Problem:
yes, it is the realm of logic and the search for truth that defines science. Perhaps I am overgeneralizing here based on the demographics of the people who post on this board or at least seem to be the most vocal, but you understand that I'm directing this at those who don't want to believe that 1 + 1 =2 when it is staring them in the face. (I said "plus" not "and" to you wiseasses).

Fun fact:
Philosophy means (literally) "Love of Wisdom". If you get your Ph. D, it means you get your "Philosophus Doctorus", or Doctorate of Philosophy in any given area. Philosophy encorporates science into it's thinking, and processes. You can't seperate one from the other, so no, it's not being unfair. If they are going to talk metaphysics, then let's talk physics first. If they bring up cosmology, then let's talk about cosmology, which encompasses physics, astronomy, astrophysics and a host of others. Religion takes a "philosophical" ontological point, and applies it to the material world. In other words, they bring the realm of wisdom where it rightfully belongs, everywhere. Everything should therefor be fair game.

"All is fair in love and war", says a cliche. I think we must use whatever we have to beat destructive ideas. Sporting or not is of no consideration here. The stakes are too high. It is hard to win if you fight fair while your foe is fighting dirty. Bible thumpers fight dirtier than anyone I have seen. Outrageous lies and defamation are habitual tactics of such hypocrites. These people are not as helpless as you say here. You need a good dose of reality. Science is our best weapon to beat ignornace, but philosophy goes hand-in-hand with it. I have a degree in Art and Philosophy, so I can tell you much about Philosophy, while you can tell me nothing.

Science is great. The half truths, misleads and other lies that many in the science community put forth as truth, does no more than tarnish what could have been a good reputation. Evolution is dying, like it or not, the more science tried to disprove God, the more they actually proved his being. Even the teachers now discredit it.

It's not about using science to counter biblical writings, it's about using your common sense and the advocacy of logic and reason. Lack of logic and reason gets us into situations like Iraq and the melting polar ice caps. Logic and reason brings us penicillin. We have to stop believe that "faith" is a good thing.

No... but I don't bring it up to them. If someone approaches me in person with some stupid notion that they are going to convert me, I prefer to dispose of them as quickly and efficiently as possible- simply put, I tell them they are full of it then explain why in detail. If they persist, I continue. If they don't shut up I continue. If they apologize and walk away... I laugh and finish what ever I was interrupted from so rudely.

I'm sorry? Since when was this a game.
This is the real world we live in, if they can not deal with reality then that is not my problem, and I am going to do what I need to do to ensure that it continue to not be my problem.

Maybe you're right. We should stop using reason to debate delusion. Delusion must be countered with more delusion.

Simple, it is because some people are foolish enough to believe in biblical "fact." Logic, reasoning, and science is what our disbelief is built upon so just as christian quote theologians and the bible, we quote logical philosophers and science.
