hard to tell. In polls taken soon after the release of The Wizard of Oz, 75% of Christians thought the movie was a fine show, many postulating that Ray Bolger "danced like an angel", which acted as a profalactic to the satanic forces at work. 50% of Christians thought that the lion was in bad taste, harking to a period when lions and Christians had a totally different relationship than wandering down a yellow road. 80% of Christians surveyed believed that of all the characters, the Scarecrow most resembled their pastor, while 60% said that the tin man would be a good guest to have to a tea party.

49% of witches surveyed thought that Dorothy ought to get what was coming to her for her treatment of the witch of the east and west.

37% thought Dorothy was simply misled by the good witch of the north, who was actually consolidating her power base, and needed the other two out of the way, and therefore did not blame Dorothy.

8% supported Dorothy, yet most of these witches were from regions to the east and west of the Emerald City, thereby making their support likely a vote for the removal of two powerful rivals. 6% didn't know who Dorothy was, but wanted to know where they could "get some flying monkey's like those".

I don't think that the data, such as we have, supports a boycott.

Did you know that the Wizard of Oz was actually written as a political satire of the times?

The symbols in the Wizard of OZ are political-not anti religious.

Fornication - Dorthy and the scarecrow/lion/tin man/Toto!! My version must have been heavily censored because I seem to have missed that bit! I think one of the fundamentalist Christian cults in USA are spreading their influence - they'll be banning the porn channels on cable next!

i missed the fornication scene.... or perhaps you need to get the x rated version.

and you forgot 'promotes drug taking'

because the only way to enjoy watching it, as an adult, is to turn the sound off, listen to pink floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - and take some illegal mind-altering substances

If you see behind it all is a white guy who isn't a wizard at all, just someone who can cold read. There's no god, no magic, you make your own dreams come true so dont bother wishing and praying....that's what it says.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent question were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That's just insane!! I think some people just take that stuff way too seriously. It's just a movie for Pete sake.

Christians are the ONLY ones promoting satanism- I think we should boycott CHRISTIANITY! They invented the stupid story to begin with, so YES, they are at fault.
