There are certain issues with running Word 97 on Vista :

I am not entirely sure how you would do the transfer from XP, assuming you dont have the Word 2007 software.

Office 97 is not compatible with Vista even if you have the disks.

No you can't copy a program once it is installed. You will need the installation cd to preform this task. Also, I believe that Vista has issues with any MS Office suite that is older the Office 2000.
