How many of you, have used plain Mineral Oil, to either clean out the ear canal in your dogs ears or to kill ear mites in your dogs ears, and would you recommend it to others? What were the results? Did it help relieve the discomfort?

Mineral Oil will not kill the ear mites. You need to make sure that your pet does indeed have mites. Has your Vet diagnosed him as having this? Mineral oil is gentle enough but there are also specific ear cleaners that you can purchase at a pet supply. I recommend Epi-Otic - It is soap free, non drying and safe to use often. Don't try to be the Vet - if you think that your pets ears are dirty, then clean them but if you think that there may be yeast or mites then go to a vet.

I have! It didn't cure the ear mites, I had to go to the vet to get a product to help with that, but it did relieve the dryness and the scratching from the mites until I could get him to the vet.

Yes I have. And yes i would recommend it to others. As with anything else you use to smother mites it should be used for 3 consecutive days, I have never used it for just cleaning puposes though. Good Luck!

To clean my dogs ears I use 50/50 solution of water and natural apple cider vinegar.
Works well.
