God didn't dictate the Book of Mormon. It was written by the ancient inhabitants of the American continent (not just the U.S.).

Joseph was led to the plates when he was 14, and later dictated the reformed Egyptian text into English to Oliver Cowdery.

Get your facts straight.

Get your facts straight. Joseph Smith did not claim God "dictated" the Book of Mormon. He claimed he (Joseph Smith" translated it from gold plates, which were a record of an ancient civilization on the American continent, and that it contains the fullness of God's gospel. Believe it or not, but at least get your facts straight.

Most people don't investigate the teachings of Joseph Smith, because its a scary notion to think that you could be wrong about your entire belief structure- its far easier to google "Mormons," open the first website that claims to have the "truth about mormons" and believe every unsubstantiated "evidence" they provide... its easier to believe that Joe Smith was a racist than to read his actual teachings on Blacks- and further to realize he was murdered because of his beliefs in and teachings of abolitionism in a southern state and not because of polygamy.

Just like its easier to believe that the Koran teaches only murder and destruction instead of actually reading it and learning about the truth it has to offer and use it to better your life.. How do you know its not God's words if you haven't even read it? Same goes for the Book of Mormon and the Bible (interesting enough I doubt most "Christians" have actually read the Bible all the way through).

Joseph did not say that God dictated the Book of Mormon. Joseph translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. If you have an issue with that, then you can take it up with Him.

Why would Native Americans (and only one tribe of hundreds that don't even speak each other's languages), have scriptures and still continue to worhip their own Native American beliefs and gods and tribal customs? Gimme a break.

Joe's relatives are alive today selling old ladies used cars they don't need. Conjob.

Sounds like an important question. Why not go to the source and ask God. Isn't that what what the young guys in the white shirts suggest.

I guess I'm curious--how was it decided that Joe was a con-artist but the authors of some of the old and new testament books weren't. The new testament was in full conflict with Judism--just as mormonism is in conflict with christianity. One could have said the same thing about the movement in the first century. WHO decided what was correct? Obviously most of the posters didn't use their own minds, but relied on someone that "interpreted" for them.

because there's even less proof of that then there is of the Bible. Smith was a cult leader that wanted to practice things his own way, thats all.

Why don't you? By the way a Mormon would come on here and explain to you that he IS a Christian.

Galatians 1:8. The book of Mormon has parts that are against what the Bible teaches. It has not come from God.
