They've obviously out argued us with their logical "proofs" such as:
The continued existence of monkeys.
The wisdom of Pascal.
The fact that the Bible is true because the Bible says it is.
The pure love involved in telling people they're going to Hell.
And much, much more.

Shall we walk away in shame?

(Heck NO! Happy Halloween and *cheers* to you all!)

After living most of my life as an underground atheist, I was pleased to discover the R&S section -- the only place in America where it is actually safe to speak one's mind about religion. I was delighted to find there are many others who, like myself, reject religious superstition and rigorously seperate that which is real from that which is imaginary. I think the R&S forum is a precious resource for rational free-thinkers who may find themselves emotionally depressed and/or seriously disconnected from from American civilization because of decades of religious oppression at the hands of over-zealous Christians. There is great emotional value in discovering that one is not alone against the world, that there are others who think like you do. Surrender R&S to those who already dominate every other aspect of American civilization? Not a chance! If and when someone provides creditable evidence of God's literal existence in objective reality, I'll surrender. Until then, I will consider R&S a cornerstone of America's ongoing battle for intellectual integrity -- a stronghold against malignant religious superstition -- a place where those who speak the truth are protected from those who would silence them.

being a Marine and an atheist I never walk away from a good fight. Especially one that I've won. They say in combat either you grow closer to god or lose all faith. I'm the latter, if I would have laid there praying for some divine intervention, I'd be one dead mf. And many at the VA Hospital that I go to would back me up 100%.

Even religious obsessives might someday evolve into having a brain that allows them to actually answer questions themselves instead of constantly quoting passages from the bible.

No, I, in Christ's name, enjoy kicking dragon butt.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19

I hope you (athiests) will stay. I am Christian and my faith is unshakeable but I still want to listen to your point of view. There should be room for all who want to use this site.
